Ever heard of Agave? More than a few Indian Jaguars have the radar to employ Sea Eagle anti-ship missiles.
Yeah SOC, heard of Agave, PAF Anti-ship mirages have it as well, but only 15 or so maritime jags have it, I was refering to their ground attack version (which makes up the vasr majority of their jag fleet)
to suggest IAF jags are better equipped then PAF ones is a big joke
It would be foolish to even consider the IAF Jaguar Gr-1 with the PAF mirages. There is a generational gap in terms of the avionics, armaments, and EW. At the recently concluded exercises in Alaska, the IAF Jaguars were assigned the team leader role because of their excellent performance that too against the incomparable US air defence. The Mirages are obsolete aircraft and can you specify what are the upgrades involved.
Not much point in comparing the two aircrafts. If PAF considers the Mirages in the same role of the Jaguars, ie. ground attack, then it is extremely doubtful whether these aircraft could even be able to enter (for example) Indian air space. They would be shot down long before that. And if they are to be used for air defence, it is as good as guaranteeing the pilots death. The Su-30MKI, M2Ks, MIG-29s will make mincemeat of them.
During the Falkland war, the Sea Harriers were shooting these Mirages like sitting ducks, and that was when they were still operational.
What was that about Swedish government approval. That is all balls. The clear fact remains the PAF cannot afford the hard cash. It is dependent on US military aid for its long term survival. Otherwise it has to manage with obsolete stuff like the Mirage IIIs, or wait for china to gift them some aircrafts.
Ramachandaran
That either shows a vary glaring lack of knowledge on aircraft or your simply trying to make out Indian equipment is better simply because its Indian.
read up on ROSE I and II Mirage upgrades and then compare them to the Jag.
IAFs Jags have no rader and recieved no significant upgrade since purchase in the 70s

Details of PAF Mirages from France.
Elements of SAGEM’s MAESTRO (modular Avionics Enhancements System targeted for Retrofit Operations) digital package, installed some years earlier in 20 belgian Mirage 5BA/BDs, and applied to the PAF’s Mirage 5s include the SAGem ULISS 92 INS/GPS, with the TRECOR terrain-matching system and UTR-90 computer, Honeywell radar altimeter, multifunction cockpit and wide-angle stroke and raster head-up displays, hands-onthrottle-and-stick, SAGEM Circe 2001 mission planning system, provision for night-vision goggles, plus thermal-imaging forward looking infra-red (FLIR) and laser rangefinder in a forward ventral fairing.
Smart weapons capabilities may be further exploited by the navigation/tageting pod shown SAGEM’s Mirage 5F at Le Bourget.
Although described as the dart, this appears identical to Rafael’s LITENING pod. Other Mirage 5F upgrades included an integrated electrnoc warefare suite, on-board oxygen generation system (OBOGS), and single point pressure refuelling. Delivery of the last upgraded 5F from SAGEM to Pakistan was expected in mid 1999.
Uliss modular systems all employ high-accuracy inertial components consisting of two dynamically tuned gyros and three dry accelerometers, a microprocessor-controlled computer working at 1 Mops with EPROM memory and highly integrated and hybrid circuits. As an option, Uliss can be equipped with an embedded GPS receiver for high-performance INS/GPS coupling and a higher-performance RISC processor using Ada language. Uliss systems fall into two categories, in both of which the main inertial navigation unit is contained within a {3/4} ATR short case. In the first category are navigation versions with a position accuracy of better than 1 n mile/h. In the second category the navigation function is combined with the computation necessary for weapon delivery. Alignment time is 90 seconds for stored heading and 5 to 10 minutes for self-contained gyrocompassing. Standard interfaces permit the systems to be linked to other equipment via MIL-STD-1553B databusses or ARINC serial data lines. A failure detection system can detect faults at module level with 93 per cent confidence, isolate them and signal their presence on a magnetic annunciator without external test equipment. More than 80 per cent of the components and subassemblies are common to all members of the Uliss family, the principal differences being in specific interfaces and computation functions. In all, 1,600 Uliss units are in operation on 25 different types of aircraft.
PAF Mirages also have Grifo M, while IAF Jags dont have a rader at all
If the IAF Jags are anywhere near this standard please let me know…..
lol…so true. But hey…Americans definitely know that pakistan will use all these weapons only for ‘self-defence’. Because it is such a peaceloving and progressive country that is rushing towards ‘real democracy’.
No country in this world can refuse to co-operate with such a well-intentioned and well-meaning country.
Unfortunately for India, it seems the US or Pakistan dont really care about its concerns, so if I were you, I would start getting used to that fact and live with it, cause you got 4 more years of Dubya! π
Now that is exactly the kinda equipment which would form, what i would call ‘a strong bedrock’.
Mr. Osama has nowhere to hide now, or does he feel even more secure than everbefore ??
Your right, thats just deserts, the P-3s, E-2s and F-16s will be the bedrock!
Sadly even Bell 412s, AH-1F CNITE and TOW2As outclass most of the Indian inventory…..
Awww….nothing like the Americans. They are all so slow. Pakistan’s strategic relations is comparable to none otehr anywhere in the world.
Like all your kits are semi-broken-down and imported and what just remains is for it to be screwed up.
Bell 412s – in service
C-130s first 2 delivered
UH-1 delivered
TPS-77s delivered
first 2 P-3s already being refurbish
No my friend, even on that argument you lose, the US has RUSHED things to Pakistan
Gosh !
All this weaponry….it looks like the modern day varients of the Changez khan clan are gettin armed again. Ahh…but I forget. These platforms are for ‘self-defence’ onlyyyy. Because Pakistan is a kind, gentle and peaceloving cuntry with a capital named ‘slamabad’.
If Pakistan runs out of space to park all these toys, then do not feel shy of parking them across your eastern borders. π
We may well do that, thanks for the offer :diablo:
Damn !
May God save India from this all-out assault and recital of the ‘Satanic verses’.
Plz do ask 24 hourers to take some well-deserved rest.
Your right Almond, once PAF inducts all of teh above and gets BVR, perhaps praying will be all you have got left
any news of the Phalcons India ordered years ago? The Israelis and Russians still dragging their feet?
π
Just like PAF fanatics like you dream about AMRAAMs and F-16s…
Call back when the ink is on the paper…
Oh trust me, when the US notifies congress and Rummy tells the press conference I will be the first to let you know Victor! π
Just like we did with the P-3s, E-2s, TOWs, TPS-77s te al!
Of course by then you will be coming up with other argument that hold no water!
yep, the dream is slowly becominga reality
2-3 P-3s in constant orbit over the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean
2 E-2Cs airborne 24 hours a day
a whole line up of US and European made 3-D radars, including TPS-43s and TPS-77s
all of this facing India and all of it networked together……thats true air surveillience!
Yup, we will be keeping a conastant eye out, hell, we will be even able to monitor the Indian PM taking off from Dehli!
He giveth and he can taketh away and then giveth soybeans π Then it will be back to the days of constant whining about the great satan.
True Victor, maybe, and maybe not, but until it happens you can go on wishing and dreaming for it, until then Pakistan will continue to equip itself with US Forces standard equipment
The U.S. Navy has proposed selling eight airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft to Pakistan, reversing restrictions on selling advanced radar planes to Islamabad.
One proposal would send eight new Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye 2000s plus support equipment for an estimated $1.6 billion; a second option costing about half as much would include used aircraft upgraded to the advanced configuration, Northrop officials said.
The U.S. Navy proposal β supported at the policy level by the U.S. State Department, Pentagon and other relevant government agencies β is yet another manifestation of Washingtonβs intensifying courtship of Pakistan, which is viewed by the Bush administration as a key ally in its global fight against terror.
Indian can kiss goodbye to any dreams of air superiority over Pakistan, and all thanks to Dubya! π
You just embaress yourself more and more……

Anymore statements of yours I can contridict!?
the IAF already operates Bisons that have RAM coating and carry R-77 BVR missiles. what great leap do the FC-1’s achieve then ? oh, Im sorry I forgot that the PAF is still stuck a generation or two behind ! :diablo:
Grifo/SD-10 combo and now AMRAAMs on teh cards, its not the PAF who will be left behind
Please tell us how your Bisons are going to avoid interception when even as they take off theu will be monitered by AEW arostats, E-2Cs and TPS-77s…….?
Considering the fact that any respectable a/f must look 40 yrs into the future when making an acquisition today, F-16 seems to be a 70s platform with capabilities that will last it until 2010-15 after which its fate will be similar to the Mirage-III/Rose a/c’s of today. In short it won’t be a worthy choice.
But 1 or 2 tiny squadrons would be a good idea for IAF to constantly prepare itself against any unstable nation armed as such with similar hardware. That was my earlier intention as well.
With some of the worlds best equipped air forces already purchsing and ordering Block 52+ and Block 60 F-16s, I would not write of this “70s” platform just yet, I would consider the air forces of Israel and UAE to be able to purchase anything they want, yet they both go for beefed up F-16s….
IAF have openly said they dont want the F-16, so this whole issue is irrelevant really…

NEW DELHI: US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld’s meeting with Indian leaders on Thursday was bit of a let down.
The controversial sales of US weapons systems to Pakistan did not figure at the joint-press meet that Rumsfeld held with Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
