Differential LEVCON activation (with the starboard side possibly vis-a-vis the slats also):

Just how cool is this machine!!….I think I need a lie down.
How to give Sukhoi Chiefs a heart attack:

For you, haavarla:

Appaullingly bad surface finish!! 😮 Note installation on ’52’s tail- looks like an elongated pyramid.

…friggin’ awesome pic!!
’51’ appears to have new one-piece white panels fitted on the underside just before the compressors, indicated by black bars to the front and interrupting the dark grey camo to the rear. Synonomous with ‘Type 30’ development?
For all you sharpshooters a nice high-res. pic of front elevation (wheels-up) please, for a wallpaper :).
Although the T-50 will only be in the flying display, there will be a PAK-FA stand at the UAC/Sukhoi exhibition hall (F1), where, amongst other things, the T-50’s layout will be detailed- so we expect some decent pics!
Have a nice time, you lucky devils, hope to see you there in 2013!
Wow beautiful Photo! Tnks. (interesting the rear angolar geometry)
Yip, it’s the first photo to clearly show that the top & bottom halves of the engine ‘cowlings’ are not aligned (i.e. they are divergent, with only the top side giving true engine alignment ;)).
Thanks Teer, spot on, as always.
Painted UPG doesn’t look too bad, any idea what the rectangular fairing at the base of the starboard fin is? and its origins?
Interesting pics, TR1. Integration of PARS 3 LR/Helina will make the Mi-28N a serious contender against the 64D (maybe even a deal clincher).
These two would help too:

$ 4 billion for M2k upgrade??? 😮 My guess:
1) Rafale is out of contention for MRCA and Dassault/Fra have been given a consolation price. OR
USS.
This is truly appalling, imho the upgrade should’ve been scrapped and additional MMRCAs ordered, the M2K airframes & systems would have remained viable ’till their MMRCA replacements arrived. I read somewhere that by the time the last upgraded airframe is delivered, 5/6 years later the 1st ones will begin to be phased out- how absurd!!
Having said that, I agree that this is starting to look like the consolation prize for the French (along with Scorpene subs). It’s following a familiar pattern- once the IN exercised it’s option for additional ’29Ks and placed an order for an additional 42 Su-30MKIs, the lobbying for the MiG-35 all but evaporated.
I always wanted the Typhoon to win and M2K has ensured EF’s chances have taken a giant leap towards victory, as (once again) it looks like Dassault has defeated itself.
Yeah SC fan blades are old news, and have been around since at least the early 1980s in the then USSR. The NPO Saturn site used to have a gallery of their production process, but has since been removed- along with a whole host of other interesting photos.
IIrc, the RD-33 was the first operational application. Speaking of which, I came across this:
Innovative technologies
RD-33MK is the first product of major modifications of the basic engine. Its horsepower is 7% higher due to the use of cooled blades made of modern materials including composites.
Barring anything being ‘lost in translation’, could this be a World first? I mean the use of composite fan blades for a fighter engine?
Sri Lankan AF MiG-27Ms:

This is the best close-up pic yet taken of the intake:

The Indian guest with the white collars & blue shirt gives a good sense of scale (he’s actually peering into the intake mouth), especially for the contoured bulge behind which the wheel retracts. What was previously thought to be a supersonic variable ramp (with the serrated edges)- now appears to be fixed.
Maybe the LEVCONS provide some function similar to the ramp, but with a contoured outer bulge, a faceted DSI style ‘bump’ on the inner-side, this intake is really something special- and utterly intriguing (emile, I understand your pain!:D).
’51’ mit company Su-30MK (‘603’):
T-50’s intake secrets (almost) revealed (c/o Konstine/PPV- take 2):
Nice teeth!!;)
