I’d like it for myself…Tim flew 49 different Spitfires in his career and his family say that he bemoaned the fact it wasn’t 50. To put this right, they are going to make one more entry to close off his log book…a flight in SM520.
What a fantastic little toy, wonderful it’s still getting played with
Hi vampire fan,
We’ve got a Harvard chin cowling, PM me if you need details
Cheers
The height PA474 flys at a parachute would be useless anyway
Rob Davies might say otherwise…
SM520, Boultbee Spitfire doing a private display…
Boultbee Spitfire SM520 has been flying in the area these last few days…Al Pinner was the pilot yesterday.
Thanks…that drive has now got a bit more interesting…it will be the only time in London that I actually want to get stuck in a traffic jam
Just an update on this…after much discussion and input from engineering, it’s been decided not to go ahead with this idea. Disappointing but the benefits are outweighed by potential engine wear issues and risk with regard to inexperienced individuals starting the motor.
We’re working on a few other lines though…possibly Spitfire Pilot experience courses open to everyone – a day at our premises at Goodwood including a flight (Tiger Moth, Chipmunk or Harvard) and a close up tour of the Spitfire, with chance to sit in the aircraft for photos.
Those of you who have heard of the Adventure Aviation initiative spearheaded by the HAA will know that it’s looking possible that in the near future we will be able to offer Spitfire flights to all. Exciting times.
Thanks chaps
Off to work now, will be in touch later today…
best

I think you’re being a bit gruff there, Bob…;)
What do you mean Bob?
No notes and too many tales to fit them all in…we covered the Spitfire, meeting Heinkel, Tank, Messerschmitt and Goering…also flying the Me 163 and various other types…fascinating stuff and living history.
If you ever get the chance to hear him speak, it’s not to be missed:)
Don’t go there Tim, unless you have a few spare hours…
I made the mistake of looking there around 2200hrs last night, I was still there approaching 0100.
Some of the work is incredible
Hope you’re well…was going to fly the Chippy at Turweston and perhaps drop by for a cuppa, but snow stopped play:(
His son, Peter Villa, runs Apollo Aviation at Shoreham. I have seen his father’s log books there, fascinating.
Thanks but that was just the preliminary votes…my link takes you to the final, we’re almost there!
Thanks Moggy for flagging this up earlier
