The F-16 Block 52 is actually a very capable aircraft, and to dismiss them as ‘garbage’ is ridiculous, and more than a little offensive. Yes, the aircraft design is now quite old, but it has been constantly updated – the exterior does not need to change much, yet it is a very different bird to when it first entered service.

As for not delivering the original F-16s with nuclear weapons capability, why on Earth would the US want to deliver them with such a capability? Pakistan developed nuclear weapons, despite the non-proliferation treaty (I say this not to point fingers, but simply to make the observation), under which the US was required not to help Pakistan! Following the nuclear tests, the US (among others) imposed an arms sales ban on both India and Pakistan, not just one.

As for Pakistan’s activities on the border, the concern is that elements within the Pakistani establishment, particularly the ISI who helped set up the Taliban in Afghanistan, are actually still helping them. Pakistan has a large number of troops who could be deployed to the border, at the very least to minimise cross-border activity (watching for groups going across the border repeatedly etc…).

As for the J-11, it is the designation for the Su-27 in PLAAF service. The reported designation of their next generation fighter is generally reported as J-12, though it is often difficult to pin down.

The F-16 Block 52 is actually a very capable aircraft – yes if it is in the American Arsenal—-what pakistan will get is rubbish ( it will not be the product mentioned on the label as they say ). no sooner Bush leaves White House either pakistan will not even get the rubbish and even if it does due to the sanctions–what pakistan will have –will become rubbish due to lack of spares—if they were ever good in the first place ! etc. Sanctions are coming pakistan’s way— Bush out–Sanctions In —-its not even a conjecture.

Giving pakistan f-16 was not helping pakistan’s nuclear program in any way, nor more than selling c130 which can be used to drop nukes as well. It was more of matter of usa being petty and mean—-like giving a starving person food only after spitting in it.

Pakistan has around 80,000 troops on the Afghan border doing America’s bidding. America has around 130,000 in iraq and has not managed to do what it is asking an impovrished Pakistan to do.

and American Trechary? give it a break! who has been the traitor? how many helos did the PA get to fight terror in the eastern front? how many missiles and bombs? and how many taliban are back in afghanistan fighting the NATO forces?

In the eastern front, Fighting the Al Qaida Pakistan has lost 10 soldiers to one American that has been killed even counting back to 911 , so far about 75 americans have died fighting Alqaida in Afghanistan to around 750-900 Pakistani ones killed. Fortnight ago truck load ( head on smash )of Pakistani soldiers died when Alqaida guy rammed explosive laden jeep into them. Pakistan has always done America’s bidding but has never been appreciated for it… ever!

In the early 1960s Pakistan gave a secretive airbase to Americans for the U2 spy flights over USSR – one of the planes was shot down over USSR and it was Pakistan and not USA who got the death threats from Kruschov —-Americans repaid pakistan’s loyality but putting a complete arms embargo on Pakistan in its War against India in 1965. Then again in the 1971 war and then again in 1990….. calling such behaviour Treachery is to say the least being polite.

As far as Taliban coming back to fight NATO etc— border has two sides -why doesn’t America and its Army which is about 100X mora capable one than the pakistanis one, patrol the other side i.e. afghan side of the border and ensure no taliban ever manages to get in. Before levelling charges on Pakistan consider the position in Iraq ( country 1/7 size of pakistan population wise ) has America been able to stop infiltration across the borders or control the insurgency there.

PS. there is no plane available from china with the j-11 designation – though they have plans to produce something that can face raptor/jsf which they might designate j-11 ( plans on the drawing board donot equate the fact that usa is flying planes already a class above j-10s,f-16s and sukhois or any j-11 china miight or never be able to produce ) . J-10 is fourth generation like the sukhois- both of whom are a bit above the F-16. Licensed Sukhoi produced by china in their internal designation are called j-11. That doesnot mean they are superior to j-10, its just a numbering —a true j-11 would be china indeginous version and enhancement on j-10 technology — ie like raptor is enhancement and step above f16
