It went for £5800…also hope it went to a good home…sadly not mine.
She did, he was just where you said and we had a quick chat before he went to lunch, the portrait she did for him has now raised over £3000 for the Memorial, he’s very supportive as well as fabulous to listen to!
I’m afraid I shed a few tears, can’t help thinking of some of the amazing acts of courage you hear.
We found all of ours, but not quite all on my list, they were no doubt there but we ran out of time, good excuse to go back when it’s open to the general public. I must admit when I went to watch the spire go up I was a little worried about the effect of the corten steel, but now it’s doing it’s stuff I have warmed to it, obviously used for the lack of maintenance, but it makes this Memorial seem so different to the London one, seemed to remind me of the amazing engineering and design that played such a huge part in Bomber Command…
It was a wonderful day, so many veterans and a well thought out service, I particularly enjoyed the short production from the Performing Arts course at Lincoln University relaying the last flight of a crew, and the composition of the new anthem ‘Strike Hard, Strike Sure’ and of course seeing TwinOtter……

I bought this postcard from the Rotary Photographic Series online, it says on the back “This is a REAL PHOTOGRAPH from a sketch by our Special Artist” …………so not sure if it’s a photo or a sketch….but has that airship got a mast?

Thank you ian_st, I have emailed them at the beginning of the week, they are an organisation that only meet once a month and I’ve just missed the end of June meeting, but when they meet at the end of July they will open the library up and have a look for me they said, I’m hoping if they can find it to get either a publisher name or an address to obtain a copy……everything crossed!!!!

Well said TO, I have supported this project from the word go, of course a lot of it is subjective as TO says, but I do feel this is a valuable opportunity and is needed, one of the most ambitious sections of this project to me is the database that accompanies it.
