Excellent!
Talking of Barnes Wallis – Still a very small number of free tickets left for Building the Bouncing Bomb talk http://www.gravityfields.co.uk/event/dambusters-engineering-bouncing-bomb … by Hilary Costello – but you’ll have to be quick!

I still can’t find an online link to the news report on EMT, but there is another piece in the press http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/Villagers-remember-bomber-crash-crew/story-16980446-detail/story.html

I think the organisers should be very proud, it all went perfectly, a wonderful tribute to that crew.
I hope it makes it to iplayer too, some of the family missed it on the news, as Simon only finished editing it at 5.30, and it was on the 6.30 programme, and on Radio Leicester before 6.00 p.m! Hopefully it’s because it’s the weekend and it will be uploaded tomorrow.
Someone has put a great short video on youtube of the wonderful flypast at the end of the Memorial service, hope they don’t mind me sharing the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OcH4_Rt17c&feature=youtu.be
Fabulous day, a lot of work put in by the organisers, but it paid off. Lovely Church Service, followed by a fantastic display by the BBMF, two Spitfires and the Lancaster, apologies for my awful photos, sure others will have much better, too many highlights to mention! http://flic.kr/s/aHsjCd4boz
I get the feeling he would like to do more on Bomber Command if he ever gets chance.
The family were really lovely, they called in here for a dry off and a cuppa after they placed the soil on the grave which I also thought was a great thing to do, very symbolic. Dennis the Air Warden who witnessed the crash came as well and was having a great time, he’s waited a long time for this, he put their minds at rest about a number of things that had bothered them. I’m so looking forward to tomorrow.
It was on Radio Leicester just before 6 as well. Simon always seems to enjoy these stories, and always asks for more airtime to do them justice he was saying.
I wondered if you’d be there, sorry you won’t, I’ll try and get some photos. The nephew is an opera singer and has written a piece to recite at the service, I’m really looking forward to it, and I’m crossing my fingers for the weather, Tim is hoping for two Spitfires and the Lancaster to do the Flypast. Should be a great day!
It was excellent, really enjoyed it! A while back someone making a documentary type program requested help on the forum in making contact with veterans, can’t find the thread now, but just wondered if this was the result?
Yes, it should be Nottinghamshire, it’s right in the description, just the title that’s wrong. It’s all a bit confusing around there, Threeshires Bush is more or less at the top righthand corner of Bottesford Airfield, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire all meet up there, and they start off talking about the airfield, which is mainly in Leicestershire.
I was lucky enough to go on one of those a few years ago, been trying to arrange another but sadly it seems they don’t do them any more. Anyway mustn’t drift off thread, are all the rest in the correct place? They always chop the little tiny bit of Swinderby I co-own off!
