every airforce should have an aggressor program during the iran-iraq war we had such a program with f-4 and f-5 in it we wish we had an f-14 as it gave us so much trouble we even had pilots to fly them too assingned to a special squadron
BS
The few (2-3) F-4 and F-5 that defected to Iraq were taken over by US personnel for technical exploitation, they were never flown by Iraq AF.

Yes, just another reminder not to trust the picture captions from aircraftslides.com. They do get wrong a lot of stuff.

A private company buy a military aircraft?
Wouldn’t be the first, nor the last.
Remember Blackwater’s Super Tucano, discussed in this thread?
ATAC’s Kfirs?

A Import the plane to US soil, (Customs: Anything to declare? Nothing 😉
Nothing indeed. It ain’t armed.
and registry the plane as civilian (¡¡¡A Tanker with refuelling pods installed!!!).
Since the owner company is civilian, what would you expect them to do?
Ask for a BuAir number? Or a tailcode and a fiscal year no.? Fly it unregistered?
For your information, there are MiG-23s, MiG-21s, L-29/39 with civilian registry in the US, so what’s the problem with a tanker?
and repaint the plane in military grey? And nobody question
I guess the FAA should round up all those MiG-21, L-29, L-39 private owners and interogate them why did they paint their planes in military colors.
They should use civilian pink.
While we’re at it, please be so kind to teach us how to differentiate between military grey and civilian grey.
Il-78 “Midas” in US civil registration:eek: Perhaps for Pakistan? More data about this plane welcomed.

Another shot.
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/1088298/L/Regards from Spain.
That one belongs to a private US company, it’s got nothing to do with PAF’s Midas.
As for the IAR-330 Puma from Ivory Coast (reg. TU-VHM not TU-VMH as stated on aircraftslides.com), the thing on the nose is the structure for adaptation of the Rafael Toplite electro-optical sensor (same one as on Romanian Puma Socat and Puma Naval), but the sensor itself is not mounted.

No, it’s Lavi
Your numbers are inflated, Flex.
PAF only got 161, Bangladesh 32, Iran 18, Nigeria 12
Mozambique and Yemen have none – only MiG-21s
check sinodefence.com
Googeler, do you know a web site there in Romania related to military plane spotting?
There’s only one forum dedicated to all sorts of spotting – mainly civilian:
http://romanian-spotters.forumer.ro/forum.htm
But there are a number of threads on military aircraft and helicopters. The following one is a general thread for military a/c
http://romanian-spotters.forumer.ro/aeronave-in-romania-f6/aeronave-militare-t247-140.htm
There’s also an english section.
If you need any guidance trough it or search for something in particular, let me know.
I’ve seen those, but I think they were there before, along with the long line of MiG-23’s which is now gone.
How many times do I have to say this? ALL Floggers at Timisoara are still there. You have below comparative imagery from 7 May 2003, when the MiG-23s were in the long line on the taxiway, and the space around the two HAS and adjacent revetments was empty. Next image is from 8 July 2006, they were moved from the line around the HAS and in revetments.
In Google Earth there are visible 5 Floggers at Mihail Kogalniceanu and 34 at Timisoara (including the gate guard). Add to them the number of 7 aircraft lost in accidents over the years and you get to 46, which is the total number of MiG-23s we got.
I hope it’s clear now.
Look closely, they are still there, relocated a bit more to the west,
in revetments around the two HAS
The MiG-21 captured in the older Google Earth imagery were since relocated at Campia Turzii AB.
A single IAR-93MB #214 was, and still is near the hangar at Timisoara
Here’s precise data on all Romanian Floggers, it’s still current:
http://www.ondutchwings.nl/db/romania.php
write “MiG-23” in the “Type” field and press enter…
The Floggers at both Timisoara (Giarmata) and Mihail Kogalniceanu (Constanta) are currently in storage.
Two will certainly be preserved:
MF # 191 is a gate guard at Timisoara
MF # 224 from Kogalniceanu is reserved for the Aviation Museum in Bucharest and will be moved there as funds become available.
Now they are busy saving MiG-21s from all the sub-variants we had, as these are being scrapped.
We can only hope that they will also keep a UB two-seater
Most of them will probably be scrapped sometimes in the future.
Any more questions about Romanian Floggers, don’t hesitate to ask.
