and why do many country by J-7 when they can buy MiG-21?
Because the MiG-21 isn’t in production any more.
why do greece need to spend more for the same thing.
It’s not the same thing. Chinese products (ranging from T-shirts to fighter planes) are cheaper, but of lower quality.
But this is not the point here. The point is that Greece already has in service SAMs in the same class as the ones currently produced by China (as I was pointing out in my previous post), so there is no point in buying a redundant system, no matter how cheap it is.
use the brain a little bit and realize the reality
I am using my brain, unfortunatly the same thing cannot be said about you.
our two country have alot in comonn. you guys have problem with Turkey, we have long history of fighting and conquering Tu-jue, whcih is Chinese for Turks.
What has this got to do with modern military aviation?
Greece ever think of bying Chinese SAM systems? if possible? i know they buy from Ukraine before.
They didn’t buy from Ukraine, they bought them straight from Russia,
HAF doesn’t need a Chinese copy of the S-300, as they have the original.
they have Crotale, so no point in buying the Chinese copy HQ-7
Velos Sparrow is in the same class as China’s HQ-64
Stingers are probably better than any Chinese MANPADs out there
Add to all this the TOR M1 and Patriot ๐ , and you’ll find out that they don’t need any SAM that China currently produces.
Some of the above ex-soviet countries only inherited their Foxbats after the break up of the Soviet Union, itโs doubtful whether they flew them at all.
Probably Turkmenistan never flew them, Kazahstan maybe, maybe not.
Azerbaidjan used them in combat against Armenia in Nagorny-Karabah.
Armenia got its lone R(B) after the conflict
including such exotic types as the Il-76
Excuse me? Since when is the Il-76 “exotic”?!?
Itโs debatable whether some of these countries could afford to or even knew how to actually gain the maximum benefit from such aircraft.
That’s valid for most of the aircraft types they operated.
what language was used in the Foxbat FMs of the other countries?
Russian. The Soviets were very strict when it came to the support and maintenance programs for the export customers, in the case of the Foxbat. They pretty much controlled every aspect of thier usage.
Bulgaria also had a few 25s…and it was neither rich or with a large population.
That’s why they couldn’t afford to operate them – anyway they only had 3 Rs and one PU. After an R crashed, they were grounded and swapped later for 6 used MiG-23MLs
syria, khazakstan possibly algeria?
Syria yes, Kazahstan has MiG-31s, its 25s are in storage, just like the 24 Foxbats in Turkmenistan, and there’s also Azerbaidjan, Algeria definatly, not possibly.
Here are lots of Foxbat pics:

No, I’ve never seen a MiG-29 with an LDP. Notice that all armament displays for the SMT/K/M whatever include everything BUT laser-guided weapons.
Regarding Russian MiG-17F’s, did they ever carry the AA-2 on the inboard pylon?
That particular bird is a Lim-5P, as Arthur said.

I believe there’s not enough space for the AA-2 to be carried on the inboard pylons.
but I’ve seen mention of 4-shot rocket pods. Anyone know anything?
Could be the UB-4 (57mm). Widely used on L-29 Delfin and other small birds.
Or it could be the Egyptian Sakr (76mm).
Anyway, here’s an interesting article with artworks and weapons for the Fresco:

Generally speaking, external tanks are dropped before any type of combat occurs.
I believe you hit the nail right on the head. Let’s not forget that the centerline tank of the MiG-29 also has to be dropped before the gun is fired – otherwise the spent casings can’t be ejected.
instead of using 5 drop tanks of various sizes.
Actually the F-16 can carry only 3 fuel tanks, the small ones are luggage pods.

I don’t think the IDF can’t identify/track any troop (larger than platoon-size) movement in south Lebanon. They know very well who is who, just like in the case of USS Liberty.
Banshee, the “Romania ( warpac )” An-26 no. 204 in post #1177 is in fact a Hungarian bird (white circle inside the star-roundel, not yellow).

Why? They started to import Chinese recently (J-7, K-8, maybe FC-1).
They imported J-7s in the late 70s/early 80s. No J-7s were delivered in the last 15 years.
K-8 is license-produced, not imported.
As you said, FC-1 is still MAYBE.
