Well, they should have fired.
USS Vincennes downed the Iranian A300 in 1988 cause they thought it was a fighter diving on them – it was ruled as self-defence.
Why would this case be any different? Just because the planes are Israeli, not Iranian?
I’m not anti-Israel, I always admired them for the way they fought in 48-49/67/73/82, but this time all they do is nonsense – hitting apartments in Beirut with 2000lb JDAMs and making mock atacks on UN troops ?!?
Egypt won’t go again for Russian stuff. Not after what the Soviets did to them in 1976 – stopped all spares deliveries and confiscated some 100 MiG-21s in overhaul on Soviet soil.
Also, if they buy Russian, they can say goodbye to low-price F-16s and spares/training for them.
I wonder if the Israelis will be allowed to get a peak at the AIM-9X in return.
Sure it’s a -250? Looks like a -500 if you ask me.
Now that you mentioned it, I realize I was wrong 😮 . Indeed it is a FAB-500-M46 (500kg).
Maybe it has proven as impractical during operational life, who knows?
It was impractical from the start. The loadout in the pictures you posted is just for show, the AB-250, if dropped, would have almost certainly hit/scraped the centerline tank:
PLA_MKII, you can’t be sure it NEVER happened.
If it wasn’t usual practice, it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen at all.
Executions were public indeed and did’t comprehend torture, but what about the interrogatories?
An appropriate commission should search to confirm if those allegations about Poland are true (probably are), and if they manage to confirm it Poland should be kicked out of the EU.
Nic
Why? Why make tens of milions of Poles suffer for a political decision taken in secrecy by a handful of their leaders?
never is giant, just fading. with out america and europe it will not be able to make all this.
Yeah, everybody is fading, only PRC is great 😉
Ethiopian Mi 8
Accident or it was shot down in the last Eritrea-Ethiopia War?
Good news so long as the Russians don’t take them from their own navy
I don’t think the Chinese would buy second-hand.
I presume if the naval J-10 goes ahead
It will probably go ahead, but for now they are too busy with the land version. Besides, it’s always better to have 2 engines over water.
Hope to see licence production of the Sea Flanker
For the small numbers they need for the Varyag, it wouldn’t make sense buying the license. But you never know, might happen
Agreed it’s a VERY good looking bird.
It is very real possible that China will win over Russia’s export market because Russia is not buying their own stuff they make in big number and no one want to buy something the Russian dont really support or have money to support.
Really?
Have you ever heard of the Su-30MKI? None is in service with RuAF, yet India will have some 140 of them. Malaezia, Algeria are also purchasing it.
MKK? China has some 100, and there’s also Vietnam, Indonesia, Venezuela as customers.
Nobody (out of the customers) seems to care that Russia itself doesn’t buy these advanced Flankers.
China will NEVER export any Flankers (not even second-hand ones), that was the license deal, so they are not taking that part of the market from Russia (heavy twin-engined fighter). Don’t tell me J-XX cause that’s still a wet dream (wind tunnel model at best).
As of now, China is not able to series-produce a modern engine (I konw you’re gonna say WS-10 and WS-13, but those are still in testing).
Give me ONE REAL example where China is ahead of Russia NOW in weapons technology. I don’t think so…
However this does not meant that 10 years from now things will be the same, I agree that China will be ahead, but that’s not the case now.
L-15 was only release a year ago and already have more potential than Yak130 which is crashing.
How do you know that it has more potential? There is only ONE L-15 prototype.
Indeed, one Yak-130 has crashed. But how many L-15s would have crashed when they reach the number of planes/hours flown of the Yak-130? We don’t know yet, so basing your assumption on a crash is wrong
A more realistic idea is for S.Korea to reconsider its alinement with China and jointly develop a 5th generation aircraft together.
Dream on…
I believe that’s a Marte missile, not a Sea Skua on the Huey
From all MiG-21 variants only MiG-21bis uses R-60s.
The MiG-21 MF-75 can also carry and launch the R-60. MF-75 is a late production MF, with the bis cockpit layout and the wireing for R-60.
