I remember seeing it parked up at Exeter Airport took this photo in 1976. I had to use a long telephoto lens as it was always parked out in the middle of the airfield from what I remember.

A few more pics:
Sorry did not make it, the weather was not to good at Bodmin and did not clear as promised. The weather report I recieved from Henstridge quoted 22 knots in showers which put me off as the Champ is quite light and much prefers a grass runway.
I’m going in something white and orange. Can you guess whch one…….
I am glad T6flyer is going in something green and brown, because the poor Champ was finding it hard to climb this evening with his heavy frame on board!
Derek
Indead nice to see your Champ there. It was the first time I ever saw it.
Nice photos Mr Tipsy. The Champ has not been to a PFA Rally for several years, it has not flown much in recent years prior to me purchasing it last year. I am trying to get out and about with it a bit more and am always happy to meet others off the forum, so if our paths cross again say hello.
ChampMagic – did you speak to any of us on the VAC stall next door? I only ask I someone did who had the reg on his jumper. Was that you?
Guilty as charged, that was me.
While en-route back to Belgium, we stopped at Le Plessis-Belleville and there it was in the hangar.
I thought I had seen the AC-1 myself at Le Plessis in August last year when we called in on an Aeronca Club tour, thanks for reassuring me that my memory is still working ok! At the time the aircraft was more or less complete, but had not be painted.
Nice to see a picture of the Champ included in your selection, after years of driving to PFA Rallies it was nice to finally fly into one.
Nice photo’s in the other thread.
Any more please ?
Anybody else take any ?
Hi Dave T,
Missed you at Dunkeswell, thought we were going to see the JP?
I have added a few photos to SEMAE’s post.
Only ran into T-6 Flyer, buying books and models as usual, although what I think he really wanted was a German Military uniform. He seemed rather taken with the people dressed up in World War 2 period clothing.

I was very pleased I managed to get to Dunkeswell, really thought the weather was going to be against us. After a bad start at Bodmin it cleared enough to allow us to set off to Dunkeswell to arrive before the cut off time. Flying the Champ up in company with an Aeronca Chief and Pietenpol Aircamper. The windy conditions at Dunkeswell made it hard work trying to convince the Champ it wanted to land, and it was even more fun trying to taxy in the direction the marshallers wanted!
Still I had a very enjoyable day and was even grateful for the long walk as it helped to warm me up!
The flight home was not helped by the sun shining through gaps in the cloud which reduced the visibilty. Whilst back at Bodmin the turbulent wind conditions made for another exciting landing!
Attached are a few photos, mostly showing some of the fly-in visitors not covered in the excellent posts from Lee and SEMAE.
Derek
The Aeronca may not be there as there is an Aeronca Club fly-out to France over the bank holiday weekend. But I have Henstridge in my diary as a back up in case the weather prevents the French trip.
who on earth would want a tailwheel with a yoke
Exactly why I went for the Champ!
Cool video of a Champ flying:

It was very nice to meet Rob and DaveT the weekend at Eggesford, I feel the odd one out now not having an Auster frame!
Good pics Rob particulary considering the camera you use, I am sure you would do very well with an SLR ( you can quote me on that if it helps you get one).
We will have to find a cushion to put behind you Rob, next time you are flying me around in the Champ, so you can reach things easier. Cannot do much about the forward view though, as I am not getting out!
Nearly forgot to say it was nice meeting Martin (T6-flyer) as well, hows the diorama coming on?
Regards,Derek
There is only really one choice….. an Aeronca. I have had my Champ just over a year, its great fun to fly, takes me in and out of farm strips no problem and has an excellent view out for a high wing taildragger. Being a low hours pilot I have found it an economical way to get into vintage aircraft flying, I have even ventured to Ireland and France in it.
