Isn’t Bodney still on MOD land? It would be great to see it restored, along with some of the other surviving buildings there.
I was chatting to the farmer at Swannington while I was there and I think he said he uses the place for sand blasting now.
At least Rackheath is not being knocked down though or left to rot like so many others……..

I guess you seen my photos from Bodney this week then Moggy?
There are so many old Towers around that need alot of TLC, but sadly I don’t think some of them will get the needed restoration.
Swannington, Norfolk is one of the worst I have seen so far on my travels. Little Snoring, Norfolk looks in reasonable condition but needs renovating. Shipdham, Norfolk is much the same. The list goes on really.

Hi Alex
Lakenheath was quiet, but I for the fourty five minutes I was there, we saw about 10 F-15 arrivals, but the sun was in the wrong place for photos so we went to Mildenhall instead.
Mildenahll wasn’t as busy as I had hoped, but for the hour or so I was there there was enough to keep me occupied!! One KC-135 in the circuit, two KC-135 arrivals, C-130 departure and the two F-15 arrivals from memory!

Personally I think that £40 plus the usual expenses (petrol, food, drink etc) is very reasonable when you compare it to what else you can do for the same money:
Football match – Very overpriced and only lasts 2 hours for the same money.
Theatre show – Again for an evening out you can pay alot more than £50 for something that lasts a couple hours.
Day trip to London – Train ticket, lunch, dinner, museum entrances getting on for alot more than £100
The list really is endless. I think that although it does seem like alot it is money well spent when you look at how much flying takes place each day, the evening concert and whatever else is on offer.
If you want to save money then why not try bringing your own food & drink??
I’ll be at RIAT this year, when you see what is coming then I for one think it is good value.

At the end of Bolt Lane, off Waltham Road. Follow the lane to the end and you get to some Essex Police Buildings and security barrier (I think this must have been the old Ford motorsport place). I asked the security guard on duty and he kindly took me up to see the memorial.
From there I went to; Earls Colne, Ridgewell, Sudbury, Lavenham and Rougham! – Photos to be posted soon!
Richard
I think I’ve located it. I’m up that way on Saturday so I’ll check it out then.
Here are some more photos of the memorial that I’m trying to locate at Boreham.
This page refers to BorehamFord, any ideas where that is in relation to Boreham in Essex?
Hi Phil,
thanks for the reply but I think the one your map points to is the one I have already seen! I was looking for the other one as per my first post!!
Richard
From speaking to some of the people at Andrews Field, there were supposed to be a few more Tiger Moths arriving but it was too windy so a number of them cancelled.
Link to photo of a Dassault MD-454 Mystere IVA in US Air Force colours on Airliners net. it says These Mysteres were funded by the MAP program, what is MAP?
As someone said earlier once the aircraft is flying the commercial sponsors will and should start to put money at the project.
One could argue about the red bull on the Sea Vixen, who cares? The paid to keep the aircraft flying, for people like me this was the only time I have ever seen a Sea Vixen fly and I am greatfull that I have seen her fly.
What you need to remember is the Vulcan is a show stopper, an entertainer and a crowd pleaser. The stories you keep hearing about airshow numbers falling and the smaller airshows dissappearing of the airshow calender, surely the Vulcan will bring the crowds back and can only help the airshow scene.
I am 100% behind the Vulcan team and am very much looking forward to see her on the airshow circuit. It maybe a seemingly never ending story but with the end result within touching distance, why can’t we all look at the bigger picture?
Thanks for looking Jamie, I’ll go and have another look next time I’m passing, it is bugging me as to where it is!!
Richard
Hi Jamie
I was going by the info on this site which is where the picture in the link above is.
I was just curious as I had a look at the EAAGA Memorial at Boreham yesterday, my photos are here.
