Thanks for the quick reply Deano, do you know much about the aircraft itself, the registration is confusing me as I have never come across OY-??? before.
Richard
I’ll drop you a message next time I up in the area. Pass on my thanks to the Gentleman at Hardwick who kindly alowed us to have a look around.
Richard
Yes that was me! Along with my Father, we got to Tibenham just in time to see Janie taking off and put on a nice display. Are you the gentleman that we met at Hardwick?
May Neville Duke Rest in Peace.
One of the last of the few, he will be missed.
My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Has anyone been to Manston recently? Are these aircraft still there? Is the fire dump accessable for photography?

The Messerschmitt 109 that was at fairford in 2003 has the following history:
(info received from David, who runs the site Falcon’s Messerschmitt Bf 109 Hangar)
The static EADS “Bf 109 G-2” was build in 1948 as Hispano Aviacion H.A. 1109 K-1-L
with the WNr. 54.
There are no informations about the military spanish history. In march 1968 was the plane repaired for static and becomes the markings
of a Bf 109 E with a “red 5” for the film “The Battle of Britain”.Mr. Willy Messerschmitt was buying the plane after the film and it was
modified in the cowling section to look more like a german 109. See the
black/white photos on my website. It was used as gate guard at the
Messerschmitt headquarters in Augsburg. In 1994 the plane goes to the EADS and was rebuild as Bf 109 G-2,
finished in 1995 without camoflage. This painting from your photos get
the plane in 1997.In 2004 the plane becomes a complete silver painting, because the old
painting was very bad and the surface under the color was damaged.
Photos of it at Fairford are here:

Messerschmitt Bf109G-2 #02
Hope this helps.

Great photos, what camera do you use?
Where were you taking the departure shots from?
and..
What settings did you use for the sunset shots?
Richard

Thanks for the responses, I’ll agree on Hampstead Norris, looks like the woodland is the same.
I didn’t realise the RAF still had Portreath, doesn’t show up on anything!!
Richard
I don’t think its Peplow, the taxiway looks like a different layout although the runways are similar. Any other ideas?
What is going on at Portreath now? looks like one of the runways is still in use? Is it still RAF / Navy / Army / other military???
Richard
I’ve zoomed in on the aircraft from the scan, here is the result. Looks Vampire like to me.
