YF-23 is the champion of stealth fighters. Although it would’ve been a good bomber to replace the F-15E and F-16 in the strike role. YF-23 wasn’t nearly maneuverable as other fighters due to it’s exhaust engines.

If Brazil still want to upgrade surplus F-5E, then perhaps they will be the only one left in the world. The rest, just like you says found it much to uneconomical to do. For example, Indonesia being offered by ROK to take some ex ROKAF F-5E for free, in order to augment dwindling F-5E within Indonesian AF inventory. The idea is to take some of them to augment existing F-5E sq operational up to 2020+, when KFX expected to be available as replacement. However, technical inspection found out, that taking those ex ROKAF F-5E, need substantial modification to make it operational up to 2020+. Thus economically its more preferable just take some surplus F-16 in the market, upgrade them to run for another decade or so.
That’s what facing upgrade program for F-5E/F. Many other more economical alternatives available, thus replacing them entirely with surpluses refurbished F-16, Gripen or even M2000 or Mig 29 can be more attractive for existing users of F-5E /F.
Brazil isn’t going to upgrade the F-5. They need newer fighters to stay competitive against another. And no they are not the only buddies operationg the F-5’s. The Mexican Airforce is still operating the F-5 as their main modern aircraft. They need a newer and more capable fighter aircraft. I don’t think they could spend £100m dollars on a new aircraft but instead they are going to keep using the F-5. Also why would we want to make the F-5 stay until 2020+? They are already outdated and obsolete already. It’s been 2 generations since the F-5 was born. I don’t think they could stay and do the tasks longer. We need to make another better LW aircraft if you want it to stay until 2020+. F-5 is more optimized for training instead of doing combat operations. But it’s correct it’s £70 cheaper. I think we need the F/A-50 which is a more possible solution to a LW combat aircraft that’s newer.
In what aspect of the Super Hornets flight profile is it better than the Typhoon, Rafale, and/or Su-35???
I didn’t say the Super Hornet is BETTER. I said the Super Hornet is in the SAME Air Superiority class like the Rafale Typhoon and SU-35. Did you even read that sentence? I think you need to chill out.
In Air Superiority I would give the Typhoon, Rafale, and Su-35 the edge. Yet, as a Striker the Super Hornet is better no doubt…..
LOL a troller again. Super Hornet is in the same air superiority class as the Typhoon Rafale and SU-35. Nice try making your F-35 look good in the wanna be good air to air fighter area. 😮
what do you think about this version?really a JSF Killer?
F-18Growler loves this one :). No it isn’t a JSF killer. It’s to buy it instead of the subpar F-35 Lightning. I wish they made a Advanced F-16. 🙁
Do VMFA(AW) squadrons equipped with F/A-18D deploy on carriers?
No they deploy on carriers. They are mostly land based Hornets which they are primarily night attack Hornets. Mostly the F/A-18B’s are the one’s that mostly deploy on carriers.
I doubt you would find one expert in the Field of Military Aviation that believes the Super Hornet is superior to the F-35 in Air Combat. Nonetheless, rant on all you like…or here’s an idea poll the members of this forum if you like. I doubt you would find many that would side with you.
In addition you childish comments are getting old. If, you can’t have a civil conversation. Then just keep you personal insults and vulgar language to yourself.
You keep on with your childish rants more easily. You seem to bash enough since your not a pilot and don’t have any qualification flying your favorite aircraft. I bet many Hornet pilots will suspect you being retarded once you answer the F-35 IS BETTER. Get over with it both aircraft are seemly different.
Seriously?
ABSURD………
See this is why you are immature when a person says the truth. Yet you fail to realize how foolish you are now.:highly_amused: It’s embarrassing because what you do is to make up something that will never happen. You bring info from a test pilot but has no combat experience. Let the F-35 be what it is. 🙁 Please go head and keep making entertainment.
The Designers, Builders, Test Pilots, and a whole fleet of experts that are part of the JSF Program.
And are you one of them? Nope
Your lack of maturity and respect for fellow members is showing yet again………………
You lack to believe reality, instead you show illiteracy for not understanding a old concept that doesn’t need to integrate AESA. Possibly the most childish comment in the thread.
Does anybody know if any F-5 users plan on upgrading to AESA Radars???
Possibly the most idiotic question i’ve heard. Dude the F-5 is a 3rd Gen. Fighter still in service. Why AESA upgrade? It will cost another $50mil to integrate AESA. And the F-5 isn’t suited to have AESA now. It’s too old for AESA.
Which particular Avionics and Systems make the F-18E/F more suited for A2A compared to the F-35C?
Upgaraded GD computers to the Hornet. APG-79 once the ASH is in production. And the whole systems including the gUy in back (giving more situational awareness). IRST pod if it does recive it
Also, if your implying the Super Hornet along with F-22 will be part of a Hi/Lo Mix with the F-35. (with the latter as the Lo) Your on Medication as the F-35 is vastly more capable in any Air Superiority Mission than the Super Hornet.
F-35 isn’t going to be mission capable at air superiority just like the Super Hornet. I think your on medication more or exactly believing yourself that it’s better at A2A but in reality it’s not as more capable than the Super. Super Hornet has more suited avionics and systems in A2A in the 2013-2030 area. While F-35 is 2020-2050. Remember the F-35 will supplement the A2G ability while the Hornet and Raptor are doing the Air Superiorty capability once the F-35 comes in the game.
It’s also worth nothing that a number of F-15C’s will be replaced by F-35A’s. Which, will supplement the F-22’s in various “Fighter Missions”. (Including Air Superiority) In short sometimes the Hi/Lo Mix will be F-22’s and F-35’s. Then on other occasions the “Hi” will be a mix of F-22’s and F-35’s covering the Strike Pkg of F-35’s and other older Generation Fighters. (like the Super Hornet, Viper, Typhoon, Rafale, etc. etc.) Of course that will depended on the given threat.

That’s VFA-103 “Jolly Rogers” not VFA-102 “Diamondbacks”………….;)
Oops made a mistake :stupid:
