growler, please think before your writing. that’s absolutley not informative to say. but some of the members will luagh at the statment. edit and delete the statment please. never been mean, but that’s clearly the weirdest statements i’ve heard.
AIM-120 and AIM-9x side by side
As you can see the AIM-9x structural parts are far similar to the AMRAAM. Same paint scheme, but although the AIM-9x has far 4% of bigger wings so it’s able to turn tightly in a high AoA maneuver to the target. Even a far diffrence is that AIM-9x has a guided camera seeker on the front of the AIM-9x and the AIM-120 doesn’t and the AIM-120 is guided by the antenna. It’s a really big diffrence between the two air dominance missiles. But as i said I’ll take the AIM-9x for in WVR to have the enemy shot down. The AIM-9x can shoot down the most maneuverable aircraft of today. Even though the AIM-120 is 6% bigger than the AIM-9x. But there’s plenty of growth potential of the AIM-9x and AIM-120. But even thought the navy might get MBDA Meteor class missile. If they don’t get it Raytheon can extend a new AIM-120s range to be a longer range AMRAAM. The AIM-9x is 3% skinnier than the AIM-120

They are mixed in CVW fleets. It’s a thing they have to do is to balance the F-18 fleet. You can’t even up the squadrons in a ship like 1’s VFA-102 with a whole fleet. So they have to mix the fleet up in order to do carrier operations. But they acquire diffrent missions but same role requirements. Like VFA-102 is mixed up into VFA-115 beacuse there based on Naval Air Facility Atsugi. It’s another thing why there mixed up beacuse the squadrons are actually based on a airbase facility.
exactly
is vfa-102 a fleet air superiority squadron? i always see them carring a2a missiles, just wondering. probobly it’s the only super hornet squadron thats main task is to do fleet defending and air superiority.
Boeing is contracting to modify the retired F-16s into a aerial combat drone for air to air practicing, for training exercises in the meantime when they begin to phase out the F-16 planes. But BAE Systems is on the work to, which involves the installation of electronic control equipment to modify the F-16 Drones. Both both Boeing and BAE haven’t made a comment on the work.
sad to see the f-16s retire 🙁 , but im not sure if the f-35 can take the f-16s role. but heard it lacks alot! but it’s old now and old means replace. but the f-35 will never be a cool plane as the f-16. saw the 16s at Nellis AFB one time and it was awesome.
Beautiful shot. Thx for sharing!
anytime ViP, just fantastic shot by those well known planes.
dang! forgot all about the thunderbirds. thanks growler
