Why not for Public display ?. To me Douglas Bader was a British Icon of a generation of heroes , and its a shame there arnt too many people like him around today, so they should be on display. without being ghoulish i would like to see them.
Great info chaps, thank you……….
Far from boring Tim…… it’s what forums are all about – sharing the knowledge with those who ask the questions
Thanks chaps, thanks for sharing your knowledge…..;)
it was just on our local tv news show, passengers flying out of Blackpool yesterday and today STILL had to pay £10 (i think) airport development duty or tax…
Nobody from the airport’s authority was available for comment !!!!!
brilliant shots, with my limited knowledge I thought it was near impossible to get shots like these in the grey conditions,
The Lancasters are due to display at Southport, unfortunately I cant get there, Is there a way to find out the flight path of their journey to the show.
I find it sad that so many people I talk to, just give me a blank stare when I talk about seeing the two Lancasters.
Including those of an age who would remember them first time around.
A sad state of affairs really, I do find most people, even non-aircraft/ww2 intrested folks love the Lanacaster and the BBMF in general so seeing these two icons together would/should stir some reaction. There are however people who wouldnt bat an eyelid as you rightly say. Personally I think its sad that these people havent been educated in what the Lancaster and more importantly the Crews did. Im not asking folks to drop everything and stand to attention whenever one flys over, but at least show some appreciation, even if its just acknowledging the fact.
Sunset image is STUNNING!!!!
seeing just one of these go off, its beyond any realm of imagination what it must have been like to be under one of the hundreds of big raids during WW2, whichever side you were on!
Obviously this doesnt apply to the people that lived through and survived. but for the generations that are fortunate enough not to have lived during those times, how terrifying would it have been to feel and see things like this surrounding you night after night after night, wondering when its your turn to be the crater….
Great shots….Thanks for sharing, are they all taken with the 550D ?
Great shots, nice to see a canberra out there, and obviousley the Delta Lady in her penultimate year
Stunning……….Love the harrier one with the jetwash underneath. Simply stunning
You make me sick, with your PIN SHARP images and PERFECT TIMING of shots………could you please defer from posting these sort of shots, and give us mere mortals a chance…..
Only joking mate, STUNNING simply STUNNING :very_drunk:
Did you see my name in the Bomb Bay :eagerness:
Is there a story behind the sale…….Miss D was partly responsible for me getting hooked on jets/aircraft, chanced upon the now defunct Yorkshire Air Show whilst on a weekend break. was so captivated by the display it got me coming back for more.
