Geat info and well explained chaps, thanks for your patience with a newbie 😉
Thanks for the info chaps. Can I add to my Newbie question by asking………….in lamens terms “headed 236 Degrees”, what is that with reference to ? I know nothing about navigation as you can guess 😮
I think, if it hasnt already been made, Make it twice as big….and have a national holiday for the unveiling…obviousley whislt showing respect for the victims, but not loosing site of the main objective, the bravery and ultimate sacrifice made by our heroes….
i really have got to stop look at these pics……,theyre brilliant, and always make me want to put my camera in the wheelie bin 🙁
Can someone explain to me in laymans terms whats involved in a compass swing :o:o:o
Fascinating insight…..thanks for sharing it, Thers nothing like hearing it from the horses mouth so to speak;)
I find it quite alarming but strangely fascinating to think that whilst i was a nipper blissfully inaware that The might of the then V force were sat there ready and waiting to go 24hrs a day 365 days a year etc etc.
You mention the squadrons reform in 75, was that still QRA based in Vulcans or Victors, but with the lower level attack run?……and may i ask what weapon was onboard.
Please excuse my lamen questions 😮
Excellent info and a good descriptionof life on QRA, Thanks chaps 😉
Got to agree with SC 034
Its a LIVE VICTOR for goodness sake!
I wasnt really into the aircraft scene when these monsters were in service, so missed any chances of seeing them in the air, So even if it is painted in british rail blue, Its a live victor, a fully paid up memeber of the famous V FORCE that fascinates me today, I havnt seen XM175 in the flesh yet, but have seen her sister Lindy at Elvington perform some thundering runs along the runway. So in my lamens opinion the colour choice is that of its hard working, hard PAYING owners and support crew. This scenario is similar in the Steam loco movement……Lots of people want to see certain locos in certain colours and make lots of noise and bitch about it, but these people are the same peole that dont raise a finger or donate a penny to the running of the loco, whereas its a small band of people that keep it out there running for all to see!!! PLEASE NOTE I SAID SIMILAR you aircraft chaps dont seem to bitch and backbite like the train chaps, so its not a swipe at the colour critics, just my humble opinion.
Thanks chaps, much appreciated 😉
these havnt been p/shopped, but theyre pretty good considering the film itself is not the best of quality

Exactly as trumper says. My late uncle is also in NIGHT BOMBERS as he was in one of the crews. If you get the timing of the stills you nedd, I use a program called winDVD that gets great stills , well as good as they can be, so we can try and help you out!!
So basically these “drones” were piggybacked and set free from another aircraft with the hope that missiles would hit their target, or some sort of emergency destruct would be utilised. Going back to the PATHE link, Why doesnt a collection of these films get released, similar to the British Transport films ahve been 🙁
To get the pics, using your 300mm lens, your best going down the golf club road that goes past one end of the runway, the shots u see on this post are taken from there. Officially you shouldnt take pics there……but as you see people do. The golf club road is called OLD HALL LANE in woodford.
Taken last sunday morning, again in the heat haze off the runway….fencing has been erected around her, perhaps in readiness for the scrap man…. not much difference to be seen from the golf club road……but apparently close up the old girl is looking a bit worse for wear!!!
Great info, thanks chaps, hopefully ill be havin a chat with him soon 🙂
