Even with Liverpool having her life extended, it still leaves only 5 T42’s in active service as Exeter, Southampton & Nottingham are in Extended Readiness.

This govt has halved the Destroyer force since it took office in 1997. The twelve T42’s have been whittled down, & as we all now, are now going to be replaced by only 6 T45’s.

This is nothing less than scandalous & downright dangerous.

    I vote for……………..Send in the SBS !

Storm the cargo ship, seize the pirates, evacuate the crew then sink the vessel (the last thing Africa needs is more military hardware being pumped into it). Job done!

Yes, I do live in an over simplistic world….but someone has to!:)

After the last Chinook fiasco, maybe its best just to conduct an out-right replacement with brand new CH-47F’s from Boeing…….Or is that just far too sensible for the MoD ?!:)

    Brilliant shots ‘flcriminal’:)

I’m thinking of going over to LHR in a week or so, to (attempt) to take a few snaps. Where do you suggest is the best place for photography?

I was thinking of stopping off near Hatton Road to see the a/c on finals to 27L.

    Anyway, great shots once again,

    Thorny.

People should be able to protest, but not breach the security of one of the world’s busiest airports, let alone clamber on the top of an Airbus.

    My solution…

Tell them to get off the aircraft immediately, if they don’t, start up the engines telling them that if they refuse to climb down they will not only be taken for a little ‘ride,’ but they will also have the fuel money extracted from their bank accounts. If they still don’t get down, taxi the aircraft around a bit. They would soon move.

    Great shots!

The aircraft all look ‘well used.’ Not surprising considering all of the ongoing commitments in the Middle East.

Any idea what the circle with 7 white dots on, is on the forward upper fuselage of the herc (clearly visible on pic 6&7)?

Once again, great pics, well done,:)

I may sound utterly ignorant here, but surely the UK could somehow ‘hack’ into this so called classified technology. If the classified data is on the aircraft’s systems why can’t we rip it all out and figure out how it all works ourselves?

As I said above, I am probably sounding very ignorant, but the must be some way round the issue….

The fact is that however ‘special’ our relationship is with the US, they will always put the security of their technology information at a far higher priority than bending over backwards just to please the UK.

If we still had a ‘can do’ attitude in this country and (of course) a supportive govt, then we would be designing our own aircraft for our own carriers, and future capability….end of story. Unfortunately…we don’t have the political will to do so.

We were an nation who could build the finest aircraft in the world……..so let’s get our ar** in gear and start doing that again.

If the yanks don’t play ball…stuff em.:(

I increased the ‘global texture’ setting, in FSX (it was set to minimal) and now the textures are far clearer.

Good news, but why only 6 more Merlins?

It would have been better to see a ‘1’ before the 6!

The Official line from RAF Mildenhall is that the Airshow’s have only been ‘suspended’ and not cancelled, therefore there is always the possibility, however unlikely that they may re start again sometime in the future.
