    RIP British aviation industry

For decades Britain led the world in aviation, now we donโ€™t even build a wing!

Effectively the UK now builds nothing (of any substance) when it comes to civil aviation. ๐Ÿ˜ก

I always felt proud of the fact that the wings of airbus aircraft were built by highly skilled staff at BAE, now they have sold their stake in Airbusโ€ฆRUBBISH sheer bloody rubbish.

    RIP British aviation industry ๐Ÿ˜ก

Sorry about that green simile on the thread title page, I can’t get rid of it, I hope it does not makes it look that I am in some way happy about Coltishall closing, I am not.

    Good shots despite the conditions!

I make no apology for responding to Shar threads in the same vein, the aircraft should NOT be being scrapped early. British engineering at its best, a winner despite its flaws. RIP

Even if they are old, Great aircraft can fly forever (if it isnโ€™t broke don’t scrap it)!! Take the B-52 for example.

Jamie Hunter’s book is very very very good, a must for anyone who likes the Shar.

In fact, after reading it I am even angrier with the Sea harriers early culling.

It is multi-role aircraft, despite what the govt claims.

What should be happening is that the Sea Harrier should be in service until it’s gracefully withdrawn when the F-35’s ‘stand up’ in 2012

    FANTASTIC

We need a UK national project.

None of this waiting around for the Yanks or anyone else for that matter, lets bite the bullet, lets go for it.

It’s about time the UK got its act together and started developing something like a Harrier III, there could even be an export market (Spain, Italy, Thailand??)

    Great shots!!

Looking at those pictures makes me feel so, so angry with our govt who have smashed the axe on these great aircraft ๐Ÿ˜ก

The aircraft were multi-role, highly respected and loved by their pilots.
I donโ€™t care what anyone else says, in my view itโ€™s an absolute disgrace that they are being scrapped early.

A very sad day, six years too early of course.

They were great aircraft, piloted by great pilots.

Just a shame that the govt is totally ignorant of Sea Power and the multi-role abilities of the Shar.
