few more J-31 shots :
Now I know why the PLAAF went for the J-20 instead of the J-31, the J-31 looks too much like the F-22, plus the J-31 does not have the range that the J-20 has.
I will definitely be getting a copy whenever that will be I do not know, birthday or Christmas Oh Boy!
Another night USS Wasp landing pic
A truly spectacular photo, especially with the moon in the background lighting up the landing deck.
Excellent news about the F-35B sea trials starting this coming week. I hope that they go well and suffer no problems.
I merely used it as an example of upgraded legacy systems…The F-16 AESA, is hardly as capable, and if a version is to be developed that incorporates the latest – Stealth- Plug ins (like the SE), it would still far short of capability, and would cost a decent amount, give LMA would have to boost the Viper production rate to close to 200 jets per annum, and design a new version. But its all a bit redundant, since the F-35 is not going anywhere…
So its F-35 or nothing. Wait a minute the 6th generation fighters have just been announced.
I don’t know if you all have heard that the 617 The Dambusters RAF squadron will be trading in its Tornadoes and swapping them for the F-35B some time in 2016? I thought that the 617 The Dambusters would have gone for the F-35A conventional land based variant. I am in shock about the news.
The Official Reason:
I still like the old style lift fan door better.
Nothing on the F-35 is as cool as the STOVL operations of the X-35 were…The Single FAN door, just does not do it for me…
I wonder why they redesigned the lift fan door on the STOVL variant? Lockheed must have had a good reason to go with the single piece door on the F-35.
I’d have to get back to you on both the issues. Let me search my material to see what the precise route/schematic is for Software development and testing.
Refueling Video:
Very neat video bring-it -on. Its the way the refueling probe comes out that gets me.
If they go ahead and cancel the F-35 what would they replace it with? More Advanced F-16s like what the US Navy are doing with the F-18s.
Ah! Funding. Forgot about that hopsalot, though never say never with the fact that they have the North Koreans to worry about.
I do not think, that all the risk involved with the program has to be overcome before it creates a positive atmosphere in congressional circles (for the sake of funding)….Software is a challenge no doubt, however that cannot be taken care off in 2-3 years time, in the short term, breezing past the carrier trials, and fielding the B version without any hitches is a good start. Not all the risks can be alleviated in the short term, some will take time. That was my point.
The Program that the F35 is competing for, is separate from the one for the indigenous fifth gen fighter.
That clears that up then, though it is strange that South Korea are going for two 5th Generation fighters instead of just one indigenous fighter. What South Korean fighters are up for replacement? Phantom? F-16?
Anyone know if the South Koreans were actually going to buy the F-35? Because I heard that they were also interested in developing their own 5th Gen fighter program.
Not sure my self, from the angle that the photo has been taken I would think that it did not have any working bays. The X-35 was purely an experimental prototype. Correct me if I am wrong.
Won’t made much difference, since it still can’t match ‘in number’ the fighters that came from US, USSR, British factory. In the end the allies simply swallowed Luftwaffe defense by sheer number of planes.
Your right on that respect, the RAF did have the Meteor coming into production at that time too, the USAAF had the P-80 Shooting Star in prototype form and the USSR were starting to design their first jet fighters too, so perhaps the H-9 would not have posed such a great a threat if the war had dragged on longer than it did.
