I once watched on TV in Nigeria, it was obviously being broadcast from the reels they used in the cinema because they mixed up the running order and the intro was projected out of order about 1 hour into the broadcast!
A private venture is when a company designs and builds a product using its own funds without any order or request from customers to do so. PV products are then demonstrated to potential customers in the hope of gaining orders.
It has often been the case tho with the MOD that they give strong hints as to what they might buy if only they have prototype to play with first-allegedly!
and if we sold it we made dam sure all our investment was recouped with the initial order!
just to lighten the new film perhaps when Bader bales out and leaves his leg behind, as our hero touches down he could hop around like Mr spigot for while then the arresting Nazi could say I have nothing against your right leg Bader Ze trouble is neither haf you!
Having watched a few American programs where words that they might object to are bleeped out why not just bleep out the so called offensive words for their consumption and let everybody else who is not so sensitive enjoy the film and the full soundtrack for what it is.
B17 takes off to the sound of merlin engines.
waist gunner shoots down fighter switch to shot of exploding spitfire.
My father worked at Supermarine Woolston before it was bombed and into the 1960’s we had the “ex Supermarine” liberated drawing office clock proudly displayed and working on our lounge wall!
After the bombing he was transferred to Hursley park in the experimental shop ,he also worked at High Post and Chilbolton I believe. he was always proud of his association with the Spitfire right from its earliest iteration. Many years later I was taught technical drawing by John Isaacs in the tech college at Southampton, I never told him about the clock though!
Not sure if its already been listed but 424 squadron ATC in southampton had a/ the Fairey Rotodyne.
well it may well be a good idea…. I don’t know………… it seems you are trying to start a business but the rules of this forum do not allow people to post seeking financial gain..if that is your aim.
it was cunliffe-owen I am certain. my mother worked there throughout the war.
there is other stuff on that website as well helicopters and a fuselage
made from a lancaster fuel tank
its certainly some kind of aircraft tank but lancaster??
I was there as well standing just below where the engine landed I was three years old but I can remember seeing the plane break up and the engines hurtling through the sky still running over our heads. My dad threw me on the ground and lay on top of me, then I was ushered away back to the car to leave. but if I close my eyes even now I still have that image of the plane breaking up, its has not put me of aircraft or flying I am pleased to say.
