Hello Old Towzer,
I have sent you a PM – I hope it worked.

Rogier,
I am no ME/BF 109 expert, but found this link to Jagdgeschwader fighter crests (credit to William Marshall), hope this may help identify the Jagdgeschwader from the picture drawn by the Gentleman.

Published by Patrick Stephens Limited
Also, Air Bridge by Hammond Innes – a long time since I read it, but I seem to rember its a a good fictional tale. Maybe one for the journey.
ISBN: 9780099577768
Terrific pictures – thanks for posting Martin.
Fantastic thread and well done, The Flying Flea “….such stuff as dreams are made on”.

Amazing photographs, very evocative and atmospheric. Thank you for posting the link. Quite amazing that the films have survived. I visited Old Buckenham in the summer and it is a really nice airfield, you can sense the history (good cafe as well). I hope that the excellent staff at the City Of Norwich Aviation Museum (former RAF Horsham St Faith) have seen these pictures, they have a lot of B24 information on display. The Norwich Aviation Museum is well worth a look if anyone is in the area, the staff are extremely helpful and for a very small fee I got a very comprehensive tour or their Nimrod and Vulcan.

Hanweide, I agree with Roborough, the really is nothing boring here, Nice to see the Sedbergh and the AN2 in the biplanes. Fab ! Nice shots.

Wow ! Thank you, great pictures…
Superb shots of the Meteor – just love those wingtip streamers, so nice to see one in the air, just hope it is at Duxford in July. The Hawk – which is a lovely aeroplane and looks great in French colours and the Grace Spitfire. Well done, great shots…
….mmmm, don’t know what I’m doing wrong, hope this works….

My friend took the attache picture of the EE Lightning at RAF Akrotiri in 2008. It looks quite good. I pass Rochester Airfield on a regular basis and they have another in similar colours by close to the fence near BAE Systems.
More Shack pictures
My Mate took another drive past today and took some more pics, this time zoomed up. Don’t want to upload too many as not quite sure if I should be posting them elsewhere. The Shackeltons do look very sad indeed. There is a very good aerial view of the 3 aircraft on Google earth, I won’t post this as I am unsure if this would break Forum rules. The following is an extract from my Mate’s email ” Today I went back for another look and to take a few zoomed in pics. There were two English guys inside the fence. One worked at the airport and the other was out for an inspection visit. They were taking pics as well. They thought it sad these aircraft had been dumped there to rot away. The aircraft on the left and nearest to me is they said W757 and had a name on its side. WG CDR C. J. Booth. The other one is WL747. As you can see from the pics I have sent today there are starting to get
in a sorry state. They are only 150 meters from the sea so in winter with
strong westerly blowing I should imagine the get a good regular soaking in
sea spray. From the missing props I would suspect the vandals and souvenir
collectors are already at work. One wonders what they are like inside
You can not get to them from the airport one has to drive miles past the
airport then down to the beach then along a dirt track until you get to the
airport fence where they are parked. I took a cutting from Google the one
named Paphos shows were the aircraft are and pic one the road I drove along
to get there.”

….hope this works
