Interesting.. thanks for posting, Daniel.
Anyone up for a sensible syndicate bid.. ?? soo much potential there.
There’s one pointing skyward at RAAF Point Cook right now….
At the risk of going off-topic, what now is to be the future of “The Sky At Night”, the show Patrick Moore presented for over 55 years – since April 1957 I heard?
Will it go on with a new presenter – or does the show die with him?
Can’t help but notice that “The Sky At Night” has been somewhat marginalized in the BBC’s schedules in recent times (on BBC-2 or BBC-4 in the wee small hours)
If there were to be a new presenter, I’d like Brian May to take the job; he has the qualifications, has already appeared on the show before, and could bring some “rock-n-roll” glamour!
Problem is – would Brian May give up his “day job” as guitar player with Queen?
On a musical note again, I’m very very sure Wilko Johnson would be immensely proud to do this too…
Although as many of you decrify.. But I again say “where’s the “LIKE” button”..

Try if you can to visit their Facebook page, great videos of first engine runs up now..
Now if I can only get them to paint it up as Air Charters G-ANYB , I’d be a very happy man..
Very happy to recommend this guy, film quality is excellent and the price is tiny.. and of course the subject matter is unique I reckon this film is pretty close to being a genuine historical document..

Quality excellent, as is the tiny asking price..
Looking forward to it, see you There.. only 5 minutes away, in the Gully !! 🙂
Yes, as engine number 1, it is a test bed example only. Never flown.
Old and interesting – yes!
Old and valuable – not for me!
Bruce
And it’s had two rebuilds after catastrophic failures… !!
the Seaboard Connie takes me back, I used to think they were so exotic
all things American at the time seemed so fantastic
We really need a ” Like” button on this Forum..

.. just a bit of fun and playing devils advocate here, now if we could just get ‘John F’ and his Carvair nose, and the new owner of the North Weald C-54s, (remembering his intention to make one flyer out of the two with the possibility of an unwanted fuselage), together who know what could ensue….?
This thread also prompted me to watch again my “Man in the sky” dvd and the impressive RATO freighter take off, and was wondering if rato was ever actually used on the freighter while in actual service..?
And thanks Keith, for reminding me of the endless night engine tests at Southend in the fifties..glorious !!
Absolutely fascinating blog, well worth a read. What impresses me even more though, is how he manages to combine all that work on his engine collection with a career in vascular surgery. As a fellow member of the little club in Lincoln’s Inn Fields he has my utmost respect!!
…and my sincere and utmost respect too, the blog is amazing, this guy exemplifies what many of us are only dreaming of achieving…
