Bellarine..your blog is obviously a labour of love and is amazingly interesting..genuine thanks to you for sharing.
I really liked (sic) ” I’ve run out of storage room at the moment, so I’m keeping the other Beaufighter wheel in the back of my car ” …now THAT’S dedication to the cause..

Thanks for that Scotavia, really interesting link..!
I am staggered how many flights the RafWaffe acheived within England without being shot down, I guess they would’ve always had a close RAF escort on each flight…or perhaps not ?
Does Machrihanish count..? at age five stayed there while dad flew Corsairs and Sea Furies.
Done.
“Not available to non UK citizens”…. So damn me for being an ex-RAF Aussie, I tried, sorry, more power to you all, don’t give up on this…
Just stumbled across the Shorts Scion project on Ebay…
..seem to remember it stored (wing off) outside the hanger, over the back where the Hermes was parked for many years.
Why on earth did Channel airways buy it…with a view to do what with it ???
Great video!! I see it’s not just the policemen that seem to get younger as I get older!
minimans, you beat me to it, that’s exactly right !
Firstly young dudes in hoodies flying C-46’s and DC-4’s in Ice Pilots, now the awesome young right hander landing FiFi..great to see.
Here goes..
Early/ mid fifties, Dads idea of child minding was “take the lad along too..” so many hours on weekends were spent in anything Air Charter Ltd that dad happened to be flying.. often Freighters, but mostly DC-4’s g-anyb and g-aofw, including a solid 3 months out of templehof in’56 in g-anyb.
Also an RAF Hastings flight around jan 1970, very low and very slow over a Vulcan that had crashed the day before at RAF ?? ( can’t recall)
…last few seconds seemed like he was right on the stall over the lake (wing flutter..?) or was I imagining it ?
Twenty odd years later, a very skilful landing of a DC6 on a dirt runway, again in South Africa…

“Another information wanted is on the Classic civil props Electras and the Dc-3 what is the news please help and give your views ..”
Ice pilots series one dvd has plenty of smoky Electra action, and the boss seems to keep the DC-3 to himself..you’ll find it interesting I’m sure.
…reckon they’ll slip off the “Hush-Kit” for this last flight..??
Endless c54’s…
“The Big Lift”
An awesome film made during the Berlin Airlift, almost all C54 action, but also has a memorable scene where a lone Bristol Freighter is guided into a fog bound Templehof.
Notable in as much as every pilot and aircrew featured, was actually on active service at the time of filming.
Umm.. “The Freddie Laker Story”.. heavy on the early years, lighter on the later ones ??
