I saw one mention in a webpage for that, but I have serious doubts on this. The upgrades are done by FIAR of Italy and uses a Grifo radar similar to the ones used on the F-7s. I have doubts that the US has permitted FIAR access to the launch codes and the software of the AMRAAM needed to do the integration process.

If memory serves me right, the RSAF F-5’s also lost one of the guns during modernization, but the barrel port is still there. Am I correct on this?

Without doubt one of the most highly anticipated low-cost fighters today. Editor Alan Warnes of AFM wrote that the FC-1 would have a revolutionary effect on third world air forces.

IMHO, rags like the AFM (WHOSE PARENT COMPANY OWNS AND OPERATES THIS FORUM) should stick to showing photos from exercises & air shows and not in fanciful speculations as to purchases and “revolutionary effects.”

Third World Air Forces do not need mediocre second-line fighter aircraft, they need social programs and political stability, which are two things that cannot be offered by an FC-1 or any military combat aircraft. The money is better spent of transport helos (ex UH-60, NH-90, Mi-17) and light cargo planes (ex: C-235/295, Y-12, Cessna Caravan).

Well the 111 did have LLTV/targeting systems (Pave Tack). I have not seen something similar in the Fencer which means that it must radiate in order to fly low and thus gives away its approach to sensors.
