Can I add my comments to this theme please. I, for one, will be sorry to see the end of this topic. It is extremely rivetting. Over the weeks I feel as though I have come to know this brave man. It has given me renewed vigor to finish tracing my late fathers service in the Polish Air Force. After escaping from Poland he served in France before coming to England.
Thank you all and best wishes.
I started life not far from Northolt(where my dad was stationed at one time during WW2). Used to visit regularly to watch the planes & go to the Polish memorial. Family then moved close to Woodley. Early teens I used to cycle to the airfield & rummage through the ‘rubbish’. Brought home many old spark plugs and other bits. Unfortunately not much left now. Later on it became a good place for courting and dances held in the control tower building. Not much left now, turned over to housing. Good museum though. Another one is Ascot race course which was, I believe, a landing ground for American light aircraft, and White Waltham, still very much in use.
I have no info on this photo at all. It hung in my late parents home for as long as I can remember. My father was a photographer in the Polish Air Force during WWII & my mother was a WAAF in the Met. section. Where it came from is anyones guess. Please excuse the quality, it’s a photo of a photo. The original, about 18″X12″, is in a frame behind glass & I don’t want to disturb it.
Sorry should have asked- can anyone identify these i.e. mark, squadron, where stationed etc. and any ideas on why my parents would have this picture. I don’t think it was anything to do with a Polish squadron & nothing to do with weather forecasting.

If they’re not going to use them over here would anyone like the jigs & fixtures for assembling the universal joints & flap control shafts. I used to assemble them and still have some bits. On a more serious note was’nt there talk one time of a risk of exhaust gases or something being drawn into the cabin area. Had this been sorted?
Airwork, Blackbushe
An ex work colleague had a photo of a Lanc. pinned above his bench. I asked about it and he told me it was parked at Blackbushe during the war. He then drew me a sketch of the air field late 40’s early 50’s. He marked Airwork workshops & hangers to the east of the control tower/ arrivals, departures lounge, close ish to the Yateley Rd.. Along side he’s written Vikings & Hermes. The Lanc. by the way was Mk. VII NX739 near to where the Silver City Airways building later was. His story was that it was an escape plane for Churchill etc.. Sorry to deviate.
Thanks

Reply to Flat 12×2. No photos unfortunately but friends dad seems to remember Typhoons or Tempests, possibly Furies and Harvards/Texans. I have a joystick grip from a Har/Tex. that he gave me.
