is it real? it looks incredibly small. the forward fueselage and canopy is not proportional to the rest of the aircraft, it’d be amazing if they can actually fit sufficient air intakes let alone an internal weapons bay.

Based on camouflage, the M always has a single tone Grey paint scheme. It has less hard points and an arrestor hook.

China has been building Y-8 transport aircrafts for a long time as well as flying Boat aircraft (sorry, the name escapes me), as well as lisence building Tu-16’s.

They’ve recently unveiled plans for another transport aircraft. I do not think they currently have the need for long range strategic aircraft as most of their primary security concerns are next door.

I occasionally watch Pride Fighting, but I like it over UFC infact. However K1 is still the most interesting as you get more racial variety of contestants than in Pride where most of the dominant people are either Eastern European or Brazilian, and the occasional African American.

found this nice graph on the net, seems Fc-1 certainly is one of the cheapest BVR platform

    it’s a bad chart.

I highly doubt an F-15 mod would be the 2nd cheapest aircraft on the list while the UAE F-16 is certainly not cheaper than Poland’s F-16.

The Shafagh is not a stealth fighter, just a trainer that incorporates designs that reduce its signature but not to the same effect as a true stealth aircraft

This Yak stealth fighter is kind of American looking but definetively more promising than the MiG 1.44 or Su-47 Berkut

I think the one on the left is another project. I’d like to know the name of it though.

From that same site burger boy posted up

” Experts and engineers from both the French Navy and Northrop concluded that only a few minor modifications (worth as much of a F-18 at the time) would be necessary on the carriers, mainly concerning the catapults and jet blast deflectors. Furthermore, the elevators were entirely compatible with the Hornet.”

If the French seriously considered the F-18 for its clemenceau class at one point, the lighter Rafale shouldn’t be too bad.

    Few Questions

    * Do Addition of CFT can make the plane more draggier , what impact does it have on F-16 performance , less agile etc
    * Can a Mirage-2000 have a CFT , did they ever tested that , I understand they did CFT studies for Rafael , what about Mirages

CFT’s have less drag than their Fuel Tank counterparts. However like anything else, the best performance is when the aircraft is as clean as possible meaning CFTs DO create some kind of drag as well as an increase in weight.

However where Fuel Tanks have an advantage in is the fact that you can jettison them (also meaning you lose a couple thousand there as well), but allowing the aircraft to lose off a source of weight and drag. CFTs being de-tached on the ground (or at least it seems like that now).

No, they never tested CFTs for the Mirage 2000, it could be considered a conflict of interest with their Rafale series.

while googling for more articles, I found this on the first hit..

In 1995-96 two European countries approached China with aircraft carrier technology. In February 1995 it was reported that the Spanish shipbuilder Empresa Nacional Bazan had offered to build China a low-cost, lightweight conventional-takeoff-and-landing (CTOL) carrier. Bazan placed before China two designs: the twenty-three-thousand-ton SAC-200 (overall length 728 feet, or 221.8 meters); and the twenty-five-thousand-ton SAC-220 (overall length 787 feet, or 240 meters). (9) The cost of the vessels would be $350-400 million. The SAC-220 would accommodate up to twenty-one CTOL fighters, such as the MiG-29K. According to Bazan, the first carrier could be delivered within five years, with the second three and a half years later. At the time, Bazan was constructing the 11,500-ton carrier Chakri Naruebet for the Royal Thai Navy and was eager to secure further orders in Asia. China expressed an interest in the proposal, and initial talks between the Chinese and Bazan were held in January 1996. However, according to a representative of Bazan who spoke with the authors, the Chinese side seemed more interested in obtaining the blueprints of the carrier than in ordering the actual vessel. thanks! although it doesn’t look like it has room for 2 catapults if the parked aircraft takes that much space on the ramp

Ummmm! What’s Kazahkstan doing in this thread? Kazakhstan is not a small airforce, it’s one of the largest and most powerful in the world!

not small, but definitely not one of the largest and most powerful. Most of what they inherited from the USSR was either sold, in storage, or scrapped. What was left was primarily some of the more modern aircraft (such as the Su-27, MiG-29, etc). Furthermore, it’s a large country that has a small population, they don’t have the man power to be comparable to any of the larger air forces.

these were posted before, but nevertheless interesting.

is the scale model really of the T-50? It looks an awfully like the prototype YF-22 and doesn’t look too much like the line drawing on top.
