Is possible for “boreis” SSBNs to carry Yakhonts in their 650mm TT? Somewhere I read that the Vanguards SSBNs carries sub-harpoons.

Warfare.ru mentiones about replacment of Granits with Onux-Yakhonts. Yakhont is mutch more compact than moskit and as Granit is “universal” missile. India develops a 1000km version of BrahMos, and is easy for Russia to develos an alternative 1000km ranged Yakhont. So is better for Nakhimov to take 80 yakhont instead of only 20 Granits and to use them in antiship and land attack duties. I thinhk Yakhont is based in ONE MISSILE – ONE SHIP principle. Yakhont can be used in all types of vessels, FACS, small corvettes, frigates, SSKs, SSNs, Why not ? SSBNs, from their 650TT,cruisers etc

I don’t think China will ever buy it. The reason – what ASM will You put on it? Russia will not supply Bazalt or Vulcan because of international treaties on non-proliferation of medium range missiles.
The ship “Ukraina” (ex Adm. Lobov) is nearly 90% ready and I guess Russian Navy will take it. I’d like to have some info about bargaining between Russia and Ukraine on price. :diablo:

Where did you find this photo? Lobov is in good condition. How much is the range of Vulkan? More than 600Km? I wish the new pm Yanucovich to help the Russian navy to take this valuable unit.

I post some photos from ceremony on “Ushakov” in April/2006. NOTE:

    1. The ship never changed her name. The KIROV is still on the hull instead of Ushakov.

    2. The Ushakov is at the same dock with Nakhimov (080)

As she is in “reserve” for about 15 years and in nearly the same state as Kirov, most probably she will be scrapped. Too many systems to be replaced, to be viable. 🙁

As I remember Ushakov suffered from “nuclear accident” did Lazarev suffered from the same problem? Why they put her into reserve?
Sorry for my repeat but does any one have information about the new misile system of Nakhimov? Granit 2?

052D looks to have VDS, and I can’t explain the small deck after the helicopter hangar.

In warfare.ru the catalog with the “in construction” ships has a “project 956U” which is NOT the 139 chinese destroyer. As I read this is a GAS turbine version of sovremmeny. Note this is 956EM nor 956A this is “U”. http://www.warfare.ru/?linkid=1720&catid=243&pending=true Take a look!! The name is “Buynyy” and was led down in 1991. Is reported as 20th sovremmeny, any information about this??

I wish Masorin to be reasoanble man and save this beatyfull ship. Kuroyendov was completely mad man. The ship is very valuable unit at pacific. Is the only ship that have similar capabilities as the kongos of japan and the korean “superdestroyers” KDX III. Scraping her is a complete madness!! 3 UDALOYS, karlamov is gonne as you said before and 1 SLAVA is not considered as a fleet. For japs this “fleet” is a piece of cake!

Not that the scrapping of Ushakov costs 50 million$ I think that the modernization program costs about 90 m $, They hate Lazarev so much and prefer to scrapping????
