I never said that Yakhont has 1000km range, I said that it will be nice to have 1000km range and to receive land attack capability. Yakhont has only 250km range.

P-100 never existed. P-100 was an “exotic” missile of khrutchev era and when I came in power in 1964 I cancelled all these foulisness of khrutchev. So P-100 has nothing to do with Moskit missile and of cource absolutely nothing with Neustrasmyy’s TTs (I don’t think that an 60t missile ever fits in a TT:rolleyes: ). When I was in power 1964 – 1982 I was more “conservative” and traditional leader than khruchev.;)

    SNAKE 65:

The Klub missiles are only for export and they have range (3M14) only 300km. The 3M10 are only submarine launched and I wish finally Nakhimov to be fitted with them. But for me the greatest weapon will be a land attack version of Yakhont with 1000km range. Is any possibility for Yakhont to be modified as a land attack weapon?

As for P-100 if really ever existed it would be a very fat and non mavuerable weapon.

Obviously 20380/20382 lacks any RBU6000/12000 and I don’t know why they dont fit RBU any more as an “extra gatdjet” for a vessel. The only ASW equipment for the corvette will be only the Medvedka system. Why they don’t fit 533 mm TT any more? An extra ASW equipment will be only at the case of Club missile system if they deside to arm some 20380 with that missile system (this system has also an ASW missile comperable with US VLS ACROK). Is possible to have 3 teams of Stereguchys. Yakhont armed, Uran armed(as the first of the class) and Club armed. The last vessel that fitted with RBU was the project 1166.1 Gepard (for Russian Navy). The last at all was the Indian Talwar. Also the frigate 22350 will have Medvedka system only for ASW.

I wish that “Admiral Lazarev” will not have the same future. What will gona happen with Admiral Nakhimov? I will “replay” my question. The rumored Granit-2 missile will finally equip the Nakhimov?? or the tiny Yakhont? Does any one have information about Granit 2? range etc.

ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THE RUSSIAN NAVY

Those days I made a search about the 15th&16th centuries carracks and galleons and I tried to find if the Russian navy really existed before the Peter the great at the time of Ivan the terrible. If for example were carracks or galleons with Cossack admirals, but I didn’t find any information. Iwant to ask Ireally existed any naval force at Pre Peterthe Great era.

    Back to our days now

For what type of ship the 152mm gun is designed?
With this rate ofbuilting the 40th planned 20380 will join the fleetin 2100!!!!!! Does any knows when will the second 22350 lay down??

TO NEPTUNE: I read from Servenaya Verf site that the vessel will be 4500t with 130m length with 8 Yakhont and Medvedka ASW system, and there is no long range AAW missile like the navalized S-300 system. The main difference from the Dutch and German vessels is the is the lack of long range defence system like the Sm-2 witch the European vesels have. Furthermore the 22350 is 20% smaller then the European counterparts and has excactly the same size with “Nancen” class. I said that the 22350 is a enlarger version of Stereguchyy because the same arrangement of armament. 8 Yakhont as 20380 (the next Steregushyys will carry them instead of Urans) , Medvedka as 20380, a greater gun of 130mm, and a single CIWS, the Palma as you said.I made a search and I find out that 90% of the related with the 22350 sites to mention 4500t vessel. But there is another fact: The Russian navy calls it “Huge coastal vessel”. I don’t know in what site was this phraze but according to the Russian terminology is not a “Rocket ship” nor a multipurpose ship, is a Krivak III like ship, for long range in open sea patroling duties.

I think in our times destroyer sized vessel is up to 6000t, and I am 100% sure that the Admiral Gorskov will be less than 6000t.

Is any possibility for “Admiral Nakhimov” to carry the new Palma system?

Do you know when the second 22350 will be laid down and the name of it? I think that will have another “Admiral”

At Steregushyys the Yakhonts will be VLS or tubed?

TO NEPTUNE: My friend do you think that I am so idiot for calling the “tarantul” FAC “cruiser”?? I accept that I am a missile cruiser lover but I dont have illussions.
I think the “come back” of the nuclear powered cruiser is reality. Some rumors sais that is a possibility the US CG(X) will be nuclear powered, -as I read from the Network54 forum- and I don’t undertand why they need the DD(X)? They are not satisfied from the Arleigh Burges??? They have 70 of them!! Is better for them to maintain these 70 vessels and to built only new CG(X)s not DD-1000s. Note that the ZUMHAULTS have 80 VLS cells instead of 96 of the Burges and 128 of Ticos. I s easier for a Burge to be a “Tomahawk carrier”.
But let’s go back to the Glorious Russian navy.
Obviously as I said before the 22350 IS not a destroyer sized vessel. If you see the facts and the specifications is a russian version of the Norway’s “Nancen” class FFGs.
Look at the size of two classes and they main weapon systems and you will see the similarities. 4500 – 5200 ships are not destroyer sized in our times. From the ceremony plate that you post from the keeling of the 22350 Admiral Gorskov you will see that even the shape of this ship is very similar with the “Nancen” class. More over seems this frigate to be lightly armed because 8 Yakhonts are not so much for a 5000t vessels. In other words to my eyes this vessel seems to be a large version of the Steregushy corvette.

I don’t understand the coversation and what rickusn means, but is obvious that any country how exports vessels or the “know how” of naval weapons taht maintains for its self a superior quality of ships and weapons. I deeply believe that the new project 22350 russian frigate will be more superior than the Chinese 054A or the Indian modified Talwar. Also they export missiles like like Yakhont and the Club but they maintain for them the Granit which I continue to believe that is a unique weapon. The Russian navy starting to raising up again, and Putin cares about the navy. The Chineese navy without Russian help remains without any technical development, the same is for the Indian navy, look at the Brahmos, which is mainly a Russian weapon. I am weating to inform about future plans for the russian surface fleet for the next decate (future surface compatands like DDGs). I believe that a surface fleet is more valuable than the SSN fleet. I am DDG & CG fan!!

The most valuable thing than any vessel is the Know How!!!

I wish the next prezident to be SERGEI IVANOV he loves the navy.

    QUESTIONS TO LEADER NEPTUNE:

What is the difference between DD(X) and CG(X)??

What excactly is the project 956U which is pending? Surely is not one of these which where transfered to China.

I read in warfare ru that the Astracan new corvette, took part at the navy celebrations in St. Petesburg and then went to Caspian flottila. I ask if is possible for a vessel of 500 t to be transferred to a lake as caspia, and even worst a greater ship like the Gepard of 1800t!! How is possible to transfer a vessel of this size from the sea to a lake which is very far.

Further more I ask about recent photos of my lovely Admiral Nakhimov, and recent news about her modernization, and finally if someone has any details about the Granit 2. (sorry for repeating the question of granit-2 but all the answers had to do only about the Kh-80/90)

Brez, could you try and consolidate posts into a single large one? You’re not here just to boost your post rate are you? 🙂

I am sorry I will not repeat it again. MEA CULPA, I am an old man and I make sometimes mistake like this 😀

Stereguschy sweet little girl!!! Like very much the way of painting, darg blue gray with white numbers! In contrast the project 21630 astrahan unfortunately is light grey painted.

    My proposal Again:

    Replacement programm:.

Small vessels, Krivaks & Chrishas must be replached from Steregushiys

Medium sized vessels must be replached from 20350 FFGs,

Slavas and Kirovs must be replaced from n newer DDG/CG design program

I think that for the Russian navy 40& 20 20380s – 20350 is extremmely huge number. Is more realisic to have 20 Steregushiys and 10 Admiral Gorskovs and finally to start design work for a new DDG/CG of 9000-10000t. I think that for the capabilities of the russian navy 6 units of a new 9000t vessels is very reasonable.

So I ask again 20 + 10+ 6 =36 new vessels is too much for the Russian navy? 36 ships is 1/3 of the USN and I think that this is realistic goal for the russian navy.

As I said before, is complete madness to modernize a ship like Kara which is 35 year old. There is no value to maintain this vessel. The Admirals who considered that sould use drugs!! They must try to maintain newer vessels like the Udaloys. They must have at least 8 of them and if it is possible 8 Sovremmenies. The building rate of Steregushiys is too slow. When the 40th Stersgushiy will join the fleet? In 2070??? The larger frigates of 20350 are pending too. There is no date when the second 20350 will lay down. So my sugestion is to add the 200USD of the “Kertz” modernization in Admiral Nakhimov’s modernization butjet in order to finished sooner.

Does anyone has newer photos from the under modernization Admiral Nakhimov? SNAKE65, where did you find this photo? Do you have any other photos of russian ships which undergoing repairs?

TO SFERRIN: For me superbattleship considered a vessel with size of Iowa and up. I like very much the North Carolina and the Alabama classes because they manage to arm 40000t vessels with 9-16in . The Bismark had only 8-14.9in, with displasement of 50000t. The projects 23/24 were Superbattleships as the Nimitz class is Supercarrier.
