Is the IWM B-17G still in 96th BG markings? Or was this just a temporary change?

Hercules engined Halifax, best looking British heavy bomber of the war

Isn’t KB839 (another combat veteran) still in post war markings?

I’m sure if YAM were offered a Lancaster they’d consider moving some of the existing aircraft collection out of the T2 hanger to make room lol.

There is no way a Lancaster (a combat verteran at that) would go for scrap, surely? Was always surprised this Lanc was not restored back to its wartime colours.

Is a restoration to ground running condition possible, with all the new build/replicated components used in its construction?

What was the reason for the IWM B-17 re-paint? Guessing it was a temporary scheme for a photo shoot? Was there nose art too?

Fully agree with Robbo that Sally B should always remain in USAAF colours, as she has always been a flying memorial to the young Americans that lost their lives flying from this county in WW2

Surely the B-17 in the RAF museum would be a more suitable candidate for an RAF paint scheme?

Sorry Peter, that was a mistype by me

Am I correct in saying that ‘882 and ‘839 are the only surviving Mk 10s with combat records though?

It’s great that KB882 is being restored back to her wartime markings

Always thought it was ironic how KB882 and KB839 are the only surviving Mk 10s with combat records, and also the only two displayed in post war markings.

Of course I am sure I will be corrected if this is wrong…

Halifax Mk3. In my opinion a much better looking aircraft than a Lanc

I believe the entire forward fuselage of YAM’s Halifax is new build, so the addition of the nose of PN323 would make it a more authentic aircraft. Don’t think there is any real chance of IWM letting it go though

If they are moving the nose of Halifax PN323 to Duxford as well, maybe now is the time for the Yorkshire Air Museum to have another go at asking if they can have it for their Halifax…

From photos I’ve seen of the insides of the Halifax, the cockpit looks as if its been fully kitted out. The bomb bay is, I believe, just a blanked off space. I’d be happy to be corrected though
