Superb, this forum comes up trumps again.

G-ASEA, I bought the card for that amount and I had been after it for ages!

I now have around 600 Dunstable and district postcards, some of which depict the Downs and of course the gliding club and it’s gliders.

My grandad told me that he was paid, but maybe he did it for fun?

I have digitally scanned the postcard and you can make out AA as part of the registration which should hopefully help me approximate the date the image was shot?

Question, what was it registered and in such an out of sequence allocation?

I found myself upside down over Henlow once in a Monarch Flying Club example! The four mentioned at Southend I think were at one time operated by Monarch from Luton (and a PA-28)?

Zander & Weyl were interned on the Isle of Man during the war and their assets were taken over by the Government.

Dad worked at the factory that is now where the Honda dealership is opp the Wagon & Horses.

Lots of local detail can be found via the Peoples War, a book was available at the Book Castle.

Grice & Young. My Dad worked for them in Dunstable for a short period of time. This would be post 2nd world war and from memory it was along London Road in Dunstable and he made tow bars.

I will ask him later about any memories of the aviation scene in Dunstable as he has lived there for most of his life.

Blue Max, thanks for the date. The weather was superb for a bank holiday and I remember around 2 minutes before the crash discussing with my brother how (in my opinion) the pilot was over displaying the aircraft and how dangerously (again in my opinion) low and close he was flying in relation to the crowd line.

As we continued to watch the display turn into an accident, my brother responded with “you were right“! Sadly a needless waste of life.

As for the Maule, I count myself as rather fortunate, the impact was only meters away and I ended up with superficial bruises as my Carl Zeiss binos smacked me in the head as I fell back onto the floor. The heat from the conflagration was unbelievable!

2 at Cranfield, but different dates.

Maule G-LOVE during the Business Show a good few years ago. The impact into a parked PA-28 blew me off my feet! I think it stalled?

T-67 during a flying display (not PFA) in the 1980’s (date escapes me).

G-BUNA Stampe at Woburn 1982, came down on departure just before the lion enclosure and from memory was in some kind of camo scheme?

Now found a picture take before it crashed http://www.abpic.co.uk/images/images/1099386M.jpg

G-AXOY the last commercial passenger flight in the UK. Departed from Luton 4 hours late in 1975…I think? An aviation enthusiast special 60 minute trip. As a kid it was awesome!

I remember as it climbed the airframe seemed to porpoise at each intermediate level.

Luton-Ottringham-Clacton-Luton, mostly with London Mil as I recall?

    As per aircraft type:

Vickers Vanguard operated by Invicta International Airlines.

I went on the Sunday and all I remember really was a very subdued display inc the VC-10 with an RB211 dodging below the low cloud base. It rained continuosly for most of the day.

I was 7 years old and it was my first display, I recall sheltering under a tree near a tank!

I missed this, the yellow,Gnat, black Hunter, Merlin, Beech 200 and the Merlin. The JP and Strikemaster were nice! Did it display and at what time?
