Am I correct in recalling that a golf course oop north somewhere was given AEW radomes and they were converted into shelters for use on/around the course ?
Thanks for the replies chaps. PM’s have been sent to some of you.
Anon, I have already paid a visit to chat to Mark about Oxford’s and yes, very close to me.
Any more leads would be appreciated.

Thank you very much for the information given.
I shall pass this information onto my mother when I see her this weekend and will ask if she wish’s me to delve a little deeper.
I will try and get the newspaper clippings and pictures scanned and post them here if anyone is interested ?
Strangely I came across this info last night whilst looking at local Airspeed Oxford losses. Adds a little more to the story.
09/01/1942 Wellington W5356 of 12 Squadron was returning from an operation to Cherbourg on one engine when it crashed at Wythall. Sgt D Butterworth, Sgt C E Morrey and Sgt B Franklin were killed in the crash, while P/O W H Burnham RNZAF died of his injuries on 11/01/1942. Sgt H B Cable and P/O A N Breck were injured.
This information was found on http://www.aviationarchaeology.org.uk
As a kid I loved the Airshow programmes on the BBC. Biggin Hill & Farnborough from what I remember. Wasn’t Noel Edmonds a presenter ?
I found this clip on Youtube few months ago which bought back memories.
Jim,
If you go to http://www.model-plans.co.uk this guy sells the plans so you could have another crack at making one.
For those into R/C, Rubber Power, Free Flight, Jetex etc this website is a gold mine. He sells what must be 1000’s of plans.
I am not at home at the moment but when I get back I will measure up for you. I think the Swift was about 8 inch’s long.
Yes I took the plunge seeing the sellers high feedback. I gambled on the fact that the seller may not have a clue what a Swift was and managed to knock the price down by well over half what his original buy now was. 😀
It looks pure Swift F.1 to me, fantastic model and find and certainly looks like it could be a company display item.
I also would say pure Swift. Im glad you like it. There certainly appears to be a period charm about the item.
Would you believe I found it on Ebay USA of all place’s ? If it is a company display item I wonder how it go out to the States.
Ive not seen The Sound Barrier for year’s. Really must see if it’s on DVD.
IIRC from a conversation I had with Graham its in his garage.
699 posts on the forum would clearly show he hasn’t just appeared because of the discussion on the item in question. Good call btw Dave let’s hope it works its way down under.
You can grab a pleasure ride in a Harvard at Sywell.
Also at Sywell and also a trainer is…………………………………….
Another ladder from another classic british jet
A De Havilland with snow upon it.
I remember that day at Brunty very well Keith. I can’t remember ever being so wet in all my life.
I also recall the comments from people regarding the huge number of people that were needed to “walk” a Vulcan such a short distance.
There is of course the metallic green Jaguar at Bruntingthorpe as well.
