That is excellent, and very imaginative, not sure it would be allowed in the UK? All they need now is a Tempest to shoot it down with!
No reason why it would not be allowed to fly in the UK. The only power plant banned in the UK for r/c models is Pulse Jets. Also if the model is over 20kg (IIRC) the model needs to be inspected whilst under construction under a scheme agreed with the CAA and operated by the Large Model Association.
Anyway……….very imaginative model though especially taking off from the ramp.
Hannants are doing it at a similar price. I think it was Jumblies who recently had it at £65.
I still don’t understand why Airfix persist with the 1/24 scale merely to fit in with their (other than the Mossie) elderly offerings. People that do large scale aircraft do 1/32. It’s what ALL the other manufacturers produce. To me they have appear to have left themselves open to someone else bringing out a 1/32 Typhoon which would reduce their likely sales. Perhaps Airfix’s marketing tells them otherwise though. Time will tell.
Boulton Paul P111.A VT935 would look splendid under cover at Cosford.
I would also love to see a Vickers Vildebeest.
Unsure if helps you with your personal location Rich but maybe for the drawings if at Coventry ? There is a John E Wright (as Twin Otter recommends) in Coventry. I have used them many times to scan large scale radio control aircraft plans. Top people, decent price and always deliver what you ask without fail. Highly recommended.
Ex Danish Air Force E-425
It was 44-13954 G-UAKE “Da Quake”
He was also lead/involved with an aborted DC-3 project at Coventry as well.
Not historic but worth keeping your eyes and ears open as Donna Nook range is not far up the road from Mablethorpe. On our two visits to the area last year we saw a decent amount of modern stuff entering and using the range.
A video here which shows a little more of the accident.
Gear down late to avoid drag and a stall ?
Either way another example of good airmanship this year.
Has anyone ever been able to find out what the purchase price of recent aircaft disposals has been in recent years ? Wondering if the freedom of information act would allow us to see what the dealers are purchasing at.
Might be the angle or the lighting on that particular day but I agree, it looks lighter on here however my gut says it’s probably the same shade… Colours have always been an issue on discussions here 🙁
Indeed it is. I remember the long debate about Day-Glo on Sea Princes and the tonal variations in photographs.
My gut reaction from the photograph is Day-glo but would like to sure before committing. So that’s three of us thinking the same.
Good suggestion re Lee. Will drop him a message now.
Many thanks to you both for your input.
Very nice photograph of the aircraft. Thank you for sharing.
It was painted grey and yellow later on in her history with the Vintage Pair. Initially though she was operated in a light grey & dayglo striped scheme.
Strangely after asking this question I was sorting through some slides ready to list on Ebay and I have found a near perfect side view in the markings I asked about. Once I have scanned I will share the picture.
AZ Models are releasing a 1/72 version of MH434 in her Tim Davies-era scheme. Looks nice!
They are indeed. I do a 1/32 decal sheet of the same markings. I know that there are only so many markings to produce but a shame they copied the title of my decal sheet for their kit boxing pretty much word for word onto their release.

And the response from RIAT to the statement linked above.
An interesting thread on the WG.30 can be found here.
