As mentioned before the G-ADGV is one of the Tiger Moths or probably the only one that has flown for Brooklands Aviation and still having the Brooklands color scheme. I have the original registration form from 1935.

As I’m the owner of the G-ADGV, I might be able to help you, if still needed.

    Mike.

    Hello Mike,

Many thanks for the reply. PM inbound shortly.

You could give Paul a try, He designs customs decals and prints one offs and by all acocunts is rather good to deal with.

Shame you were not asking after MH434. I have one sheet available already and another featuring more of her schemes to be announced to the public at Cockpitfest 2012 😀

Am I correct in thinking that parts from this aircraft were on ebay 12 months or so ago. Some exhaust stubs & a few other bits ? Or is this another Mossie buried at a RAF Station dump that I am thinking about ?

Sally B of course flew on the circuit for a short period in the heavily weathered Memphis Belle scheme she had worn for the film of the same name.

Google will get a cached way into the site which is presently down. Reasons unknown. Hopefully this will work.

BTW thanks for confirming my question Blue 2. Sadly to lazy to google that day.

    Mike,

Looks like another Hunter T7, metal work and holes match. A lot better condition by looks of it as well

And I believe offered & sold on ebay by the same seller a few weeks ago.

The Gannet looks fantastic. Is this the one that was on the airshow circuit in the 1980’s ?

So do you mean that they won’t object to anyone making decals, or that they will not licence them (Thus killing the trade)?

I have had subsequent applications for planned future sheets declined. Have asked the same question along with a few others. As soon as I have answers I will let you know.

I have been speaking recently to the department that deals with Applications For Merchandising. You apply for a licence for a term of two years. The fee paid depends on your projected profit for the use you are intending.

The RAF roundal, how I understood it from both the conversations I have had with the department and also the guidance notes I have recieved was not subject to the restrictions you are all suggesting.

It applies to actual crests such as squadrons and/or commands. Additionally it also applies to the Royal Air Force title with the roundal featured by the text as seen on display Hawks & Typhoons of late.

The guidance notes state “We will not licence the MOD’s Departmental Crest (Tri-service crest), the Sea Cadets, the SAS and the SBS logos”

My interest is in producing a range of aftermarket decals for modellers. I was advised that as the MOD is operating under reduced staffing levels as a result of government decisions they have had to evaluate licence costs/benefits to the taxpayer on that basis. Furthermore there has been a change in policy and the MOD do not expect to licence standalone decals going forward, nor to renew any existing licence

Just glad I applied for the licence on my first planned sheet.

Time will tell how that one pans out I guess.

By the way, it looks like the RAF has piked out of showing up for the RNZAF 75th, boo! 😉

What with ? unless it escaped you notice we have retired/scrapped/cut back most of our airforce.

If you guys want to arrange transport maybe the BBMF could spare a Spit for a few months ?:diablo:

They both saw service with the RAF in the UK, XV474, is an FGR.2, the other, ZE359, an F-4J (UK) painted in its pre British service USN colours.

The F-4J(UK) is much the rarer beast with fewer numbers surviving compared to the Spey engined type.

Funny how so many people are saying let the J(UK) be the one that is disposed of. I guess a lick of paint into differant markings alters people’s perceptions of its history/value.

It is documented in many books and programmes that it is the team that picks their new members so a lot of the views given on this thread are complete tosh.

An alternative view, and tongue firmly planted in cheek………………………..

maybe just maybe she had to perform better than the other male aircrew during the year of her application because there would have been the inevitable “can a woman do the job as well as a man” prejudice to overcome.

Personally I have always been and will continue to be in awe of what the team do and of those who are good enough to be a part of that. Who care’s if they are male or female.

To Ms Stewart, you made it as a Red Arrow and did the job for two years. As others have said you certainly have not been found lacking in courage by making the decision to step down from the role. No shame in that and knowing how the decision would be put under the microscope by the media and public it shows that you are indeed made of the right stuff.
