Ref ‘Hurricane XIV’ change the fin & it could easily be the MB5!
Looking at the leading edge of the wing and the fact that she’’s going around the World are they the same as the PR variants i.e. full of fuel?
UK serials site has some info.
As far as I can tell it was delivered to 4FTS on 5.6.64 & painted yellow straight away with no code. At the end of the season it went to 5MU on 1.10.64, the following year it emerged in scarlet, w/o 16.12.69

One Merlin 25, so only one more needed for an airworthy Mosquito
Priceless! Give that man the Booker Prize, what a breath of fresh air, although you’d be hard pushed to find a sweet smelling Fox anywhere! Regards Taff Evans, brought up in the Countryside!
Here are the wings & engines of Z2186 in situ on Carnedd Dafydd Apr ’81

I seem to remember the ex BA VC-10’s being ferried from Abingdon to I think Filton for the Tanker conversions. Gear & Flaps down one off transit I think & they appeared to be in a fairly shabby external condition, was it new engines installed etc. for the transit? Wellsbourne to Bruntingthorpe 25mins? As pointed out 30yrs outside for the Vulcan would merit a strip down of all airworthiness related components, anybody out there elaborate on the work carried out on the VC-10’s?
My gut feeling was also a Beau wing mounted intake. However, the 7 in the figure 5708 L is a European 7, German?
My First Post on this Forum. E-mail sent to FAAM regarding this ludicrous situation and this is from a retired ‘Crab! A sensible solution would be – we’re invoicing you for £50,000 and by the way it’s waived! Hope a sensible solution at zero cost is found. Best of luck to the Bluebird Project.
New to this Forum, but this is the last time I saw XL231 in the flesh. We were on our way to Turkey and Exercise Distant Thunder and I think she went into Palermo once the AAR bracket was complete. Will try & get up to see here again.
Photo taken 7 Mar 1993.
Took this photo 6 Aug 13, no interior shots though. This is in the same building as the Halifax at the National Air Force Museum of Canada, CFB Trenton, Ontario which is a 2hr drive from Toronto. Regards Hywel Evans. You can easily google them.
This was the man reason for visiting – she really is a beauty.
