Hi E, I guess you’ve answered your own question there. Get in touch near the day via any of the various methods available to you and I’ll let you know. Or just buy a ticket for the worthy cause! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Tickets can still be purchased right up until the 25th Jan, for collection at the door on the evening. Thank you.

Still plenty of tickets left. Should be a really a great night, for a very reasonable ticket price – and all for a very worthwhile cause. ๐Ÿ™‚

They will be in the next issue ๐Ÿ™‚

Darren, you’ll have to let me know which events you’re not going to next year, so I can get a look in! :p

Roger, I’ve put a few shots here:

It was a great night. Hats off to Steve and the crew, and indeed Darren for helping to arrange things with a photographic ‘eye’. ๐Ÿ™‚

VRT Christmas Enthusiast Event cancelled due to bad weather

Due to the recent poor weather, we have taken the decision to cancel our Christmas Enthusiast Event and Buffet that was due to take place this Saturday, 4th December.

The heavy snowfall that has affected much of the country over the past few days has been particularly bad in the south east, with many roads unusable and public transport severely restricted. Although the snow is expected to ease in the next 24 to 48 hours, the freezing temperatures mean road and transport conditions are likely to remain very difficult over the weekend.

We cannot guarantee we will be able to hold the event so we have very reluctantly decided to cancel. We are also very aware that, given the road conditions, many of you would have concerns about travelling or would simply not have been able to travel at all.

We appreciate our decision will disappoint all those who have bought tickets but feel it is the correct one given the circumstances. We will, of course, provide full refunds and we will process these as soon as possible.

    Prize Draw 2010
We know many of you intended bringing your ticket counterfoils along on Saturday for inclusion in the Prize Draw. As the draw wonโ€™t now be happening that day, we have extended the deadline for returning counterfoils and cheques to Friday 10 December. The draw itself will take place as soon as possible afterwards and will be adjudicated by our promoter, Graham Cash, and one of the Trustโ€™s trustees.

If you still have any outstanding counterfoils for return, please send them (together with cheques made payable to Vulcan Restoration Trust) to: Graham Cash, 27 Starts Hill Road, Orpington, Kent BR6 7AR.

    Christmas Gifts
our Christmas event has always been busy with many of you buying gifts and souvenirs from the Trustโ€™s merchandise range. The good news is that you can still do this, as a wide range of our souvenirs and other goodies are available from our web shop. We have a wide selection of books (including the new Avro Vulcan โ€˜bookazineโ€™) DVDs, polo shirts, baseball caps, and much more, so please pay the shop a visit at shop.avrovulcan.com.

Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year, and we look forward to seeing you (weather permitting!) in 2011.

XL426 Under restoration at Southend Airport to return to fast taxi status

Probably the most extensive restoration on a large jet aircraft this side of XH558’s return to flight, and which really could do with more financial support from the public. We’d welcome visitors to our ‘Visit the Vulcan’ days through 2010 to view the work being carried out, and hopefully put pennies in the tins. Thank you. ๐Ÿ™‚

So having two Bleriots arrive in the morning ….

    “Bleriot celebrations without Bleriots” Honestly……

..arrived before the gates opened. Unknown to anybody who would have liked to have caught them. Therefore we might as well have gone to a museum to see some static Bleriots.

A very odd day to be a visitor to the event. The ATC and organising chaps at the school didn’t seem to have much of a clue what was going on during the day, and even forgot about the time difference between the UK and the mainland Europe.

The day helped to top up the tan though. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Last year we went to Newark and the lecture we got in the Vulcan cockpit was almost worth going for on its own.

XL426, ‘The Southend Vulcan’, will be offering the same on 21 Sept. ๐Ÿ˜€
