Sorry, if this is somewhat stealing the topic, but does anyone have a shot of the gate guardian Spit at Perdiswell?
Not true about the Polish squadrons, the history of Z1206 is here – http://www.couplandbell.com/marg/projects.htm
Incidentally this is the only MkIV surviving.
Yes, over-polished I think – I bet it didn’t look that shiny when it came out the factory 😀
I spotted what I think was a navy blue Sea Harrier (only got a quick glance) on a low loader on the A46 close to the M1 junction heading towards Newark yesterday evening, could be the same one?

Fairey Battle

Hawk landing on runway 01 at Valley
Almost certainly at Moreton, as I think this is the only complete tail section remaining (forgetting about the 2 complete examples of course)

NF.14 WS807 to be precise! Awaiting conditions on the airport to improve for a move by a certain Mr B. Society Esq. for a spot of remedial work so technic ally not yet abandoned..just awaiting it’s turn
In that case I apologise. There is a larger fuselage as part of this little collection (at least on Google Earth), looks like an airliner, are you able to confirm what it is?
Speaking of aircraft left lying around the place, I have an idea for a photo project – perhaps you chaps could help, do you know of any complete a/c left in farms, yards etc, around the Bromsgrove area (with within 5-10 miles)
Cheers
Steve
Right, found a couple –

This one I have posted before. Replica Spit at Wellesbourne Mountford – was a static in the BoB film – I’m sure someone can confirm that?

Another from Staverton – not a good pic this time, I think it’s another Meteor

Thanks for the compliments guys, I will have a look when I get home, I’m sure there are some more I can dig out

I use a 70-300mm and find it more than adequate for use at most airbases across the UK. It’s all your really need I think, a GR4 will fill the viewfinder of you choose to go low-flying (at most places anyway).
You may find 200mm a bit short for fighters, but will be more than adequate for most places with bigger aircraft.
As mentioned, 200mm will limit your options slightly, in that you will have to get yourself a bit closer to the action to get a frame-filler – also bear in mind the D60 is not massivly high-spec, so a heavy crop at 200mm (to bring the subject closer) may limit the quality somewhat.
I think you can pick a cheapo 300mm up for about £80, but bear in mind with the D60, you need to AF motor to be in the lens – which limits your choice of lenses, unless you want to pay slightly more.
Have a look here – http://s221.photobucket.com/albums/dd258/wcfcfan/Valley%20Oct%2008/ These are from one of my latest ventures with the 300mm at Valley. If you check the EXIF data for the shots you can see at what focal length they were taken. Camera was a D40, slightly lower spec than the D60.
Hope that helps
