Hmm forward fuselage supplied by Mark Evans(MAM)
Cees
Sorry to correct you Cees, but Mark is MWM (Midland Warplane Museum) not MAM at Coventry
Steve
No worries dude, anytime 🙂
I was mistaken on the blue thing, never seen that before. Odd how it was following the hawks! Maybe a highup raf official?
Nice pics btw 😎
I thought photographer maybe. Hovering above and slightly to the side of them at the bottom of the runway and as they blasted away, it trailed them right down. Here’s a series (unedited btw). Just scroll down really quick, it will be like a film!

What a week I’ve had. Hendon on Monday, Cottesmore on Tuesday, Valley on Thursday and RAF Museum Reserve at Stafford today. Now, when I win Euromillions tonight, I will be able to do this every week!
Stee
I did mention that on my post earlier in the thread and suggested it be moved, but there’s not a fat lot I can do about it now!
No.1 Squadron is based there I believe. So, er, yes they were there.
A very convincing call I would say
Steve
Of course – the BEST Squadron was there??
= Tim
BEST Squadron?
The B&W shots are fantastic, particularly the taxiing Spit with Home Guard to this side and a soldier on a bike.
Steve
It was a good day Scott. I’ll post something in the Photographic forum shortly and add the link in here.
Apologies to the mod’s, this thread is in the wrong forum, perhaps one of you could move it?
Thanks
Steve

I have to agree with you on this one but don’t you feel that it is a bit undignified being ‘shoved’ under the stairs?.
Yes, this photo says it all really –

Under the stairs and next to the lift. Very weird decision to put it there
When I was there, it was Elgars “Enigma Variations”. Fantastic music. And I agree, the hurricane wreck says it all.
That’s the one, Nimrod –

Cottesmore it is, thanks Scott
Steve
It was very dark in the Bomber Hall and in the BoB Hanger, but a steady hand and some longer exposure times, between 1 and 1/5 of a second lit it up a bit
Favourite bit? The Hurricane wreck recovered as it was found in 1973, together with they story of the pilot who bailed out too low and was killed before his parachute opened (last but one pic). Very emotional atmosphere as well, together with the classical music in the background. I’d don’t know what piece of music, but I’m fairly sure it was in an advert not long ago.
Steve
Don’t want to hijack your thread benyboy, so I hope you don’t mind me adding some from my first visit, today.
BTW, I like your shot of the ‘109 reflected on the glass table top

Steve
You’re right, it covers the Dark Peak area of the Peak District, to the West of Sheffield.
Anyone interested in this area should really try the ‘Dark Peaks’ books by Ron Collier –
Fantastic reading!

The real question is why no one’s flaming the Duke for basically demanding a very large lump of cash to continue / convert a loan?
I cannot blame him for that. If I thought I had two bits of canvas with some paint on that were worth £100m, I would be trying to flog them as well, especially if I knew some noddy was willing to fund raise for them.
Then I could look really generous when they got to the their target, I could agree to sell them for £90m and they could keep the rest to further add to their collection, or build a new building to house them.
I would get a Knighthood!
