I cannot see anything in the whole screenshot, and as I say, it’s usually pretty accurate.

Sorry, maybe someone else knows better?

Middleton as in nearer Rochdale? If so, I have nothing for miles around, on my usually very reliable map.

If you mean another Middleton in west Manchester (which my map does not show me), could be X4NW Newton le Willows (now Haydock Park), EGCB Manchester (still a grass strip airfield) or X4WY Withenshaw (now the M60!), or it could be X4LD Lymm Dam (now agriculture)

Can you be any more specific as to area, postcode for example or road name?

    No, see my post #5

If it is that one, any idea on the UK serial?

Thanks for that Mark. I take it there are more flying B-17s now than back then?

Operation Hydra as well (Bomber Command attack on Peenemünde) that night also covered by a very good Martin Middlebrook book.

Of course yeah, I’ve just finished that book, the significance of the date didn’t click. I’m halfway through ‘Decision Over Schweinfurt’ by Thomas Coffey, so that is why it came to mind.

David – Thanks for posting those copies, they really are amazing!

Thats exactly the kind of ideas, those remembered at Watton were fighting.

Not defending the despicable act, just found the marked passage tasteless.

Whoosh. Only a bit of hyperbolism there, I’m not evil.

I find it incredible that with the theme of this thread, you would choose to label me as ‘tasteless’

You seriously must not have a brain if you decide doing this is a good idea.

Some people should be made to pass some exams and get a license before they are allowed to breed.

Is one of the mods not going to remove this thread?

Sounds like an ideal chance to use the ‘Infraction System’

I love that shot of the 3 in formation, it really highlights the difference in size between todays fighters and the 40’s fighters

PS Unless of course the perspective is playing havoc with my eyes and the P-51 is actually one of those Ring Raiders. Remember them?

Love #2 and #5, the head on shot. Certainly a pretty aircraft. In an ugly kind of way 😉

    Fantastic drawings!

They make mine look an Avro Hawker Siddeley Fisher Price Vulcan!
