FBW is Fly By Wire https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fly-by-wire
Ah, of course!
Das is kuul!
RIAT Sun 19 July.
Error in title Finnish should read Polish
On Sat 18 I saw the Polish A F MIG 29 display but wasn’t close to the runway to watch it prior to take off and actullay take off.
On Sun 19 July prior to take off the Polish MIG29 was pouring out very heavy black smoke from the engine exhaust many times prior to moving on to the runway and then again just prior to rolling for take off.
Anyone know if this is normal routine?
Also everyone around me heard the commentator say that the same MIG29 was being flown without any FBW. Wow is all I can say.
What’s an FBW?
Interesting info Bob, thanks!

Thanks Tony. Sounds like a Russian/British hybrid!
If you download Flightradar24 PRO when you highlight the flight there is an option for more details and this includes the airframe being used;)
I find that the PRO version is a very useful tool especially if I’m waiting for flights to arrive!
Oh no I dont want a paid for app. I dont fly, never been in a plane. Was just interested in seeing whats flying overhead.
I think you will find that you need the aircraft registration for GINFO ; flight numbers only relate to the flight ,not necessarily a particular aircraft, sometimes even a different type is used, and probably changes on a daily basis..
Ah thanks for that! Not very useful app then!
Not sure if it’s ever been mentioned here. But if you need some proof of Jacksons interest in Aviation and authenticity he started a plastic model company producing WW1 aircraft.
If you’ve never seen them have a look, and check the galleries
Those models are droolsome!!
Superb shots- shame about the crankshaft failure-that could have been nasty couldnt it!
Cheers Moggy!
