An extremely decent, kind and interesting man.
I’m very tempted to take a taxy ride in the lanc but need to see how easy it is to get to East Kirkby first. Speaking of the taxy rides, how is it decided who sits in which position?

A portrait of Les taken during our visit to his home in Tauranga, NZ during the making of Into the Wind in 2009. A very nice man and incredibly generous with his time.
Thank you very much for the comments about the film.
Please do share them, the wider the stories become known the better. Exodus and Dodge particularly are much overlooked.
Thank you for your comments Dave, making the film was a pleasure and a very memorable experience. Seems a long time ago now and sadly so many of the veterans are no longer with us.
all the best

Thanks Howard,
I hope these films, in some small way, raise awareness of two often overlooked Operations. Manna is a huge deal, for obvious reasons, in Holland but over here it is not so prominently known.
When you listen to the testimony of the veterans and that of Thea, who was only a young girl at the time of the drops, it really adds emphasis to how much the drops meant to both crews and the Dutch on the ground.

Hello,
Our production company produced this film for Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire. It is called ‘Memories of Manna’ and will be released free and online hopefully in the next few weeks. When it is Ill make sure to post the link. The film is 20 mins approx in length. Another film about the repatriation of POWs by Bomber Command will also be released.
I’ll let you know when both are released.

After hearing the news and posting last night I thought it would be apt to share the following film,
http://vimeo.com/electricegg/kenwallis
This film was originally made because we had such a wealth of material featuring Ken after the completion of Into the Wind. At the time it seemed a shame not to do something with it. It originally was an extra on the DVD but it is free for all to view as a small tribute to Ken. It is not an exhaustive history of Ken’s life but gives a little insight into some of his many achievements.

A wonderful man who we had the good fortune to work with whilst making Into the Wind. A gentlemen and a true one-off. Those filming days will last forever in my memory, particularly sharing a Guinness after a long days work.
We’re screening the film at the Ayr World Film Festival of Flight on Friday. It will be dedicated to him.
Good to chat last night Mr Hatton and it was a privilege to be part of such an evocative event and to see and ‘hear’ the original version of the film in such notable company.
Good to see you too, it was a very special screening, a credit to those who organised it at Aviation Heritage Lincolnshire
Many thanks, this is a link to one taken in 2009 of Les Munro.

How do you contact the seller?

For those who are Lincolnshire based, there will be a screening of Into the Wind at the Lincoln Drill Hall on Friday 1st June at 7.30pm with a Q+A afterwards. One of the veterans from the film may also be in attendance.
Looking forward to meeting any of you who are in the area and can pop along,
best wishes
