C47 Pilot Herman Laubs (hope i spelt the name correctly). A very interesting man who took the time to chat to us about his experiences during the war.
and another…
I agree with Hatton (I don’t think he went to the USA at all. I think he was in prison for a while…) 😀
Indeed, still sore about it too 😀
I know a lot of people weren’t very happy that the VE/VJ anniversaries were not recieveing seperate events (including myself I might add to some degree) but I must admit this living history idea and the events scheduled for the weekend seem every bit, if not more, as prominent and well thought out as the 50th anniversary. Must admit, im rather impressed. Due to the fact i can’t get down to Duxford on Sunday, I know where i’ll be instead!!
some interesting compositions. thanks for sharing.
No transport! 🙁 If anyone in the Lincoln area has a spare seat and would like some petrol money, let me know 🙂
Try typing what you want to say into a spell checker before hand, it’s that simple.
Its not that simple though is it. What gives you the right to critisise him for bad spelling in the first place in such a manner? We all make mistakes, either through a genuine bad grasp of English or sometimes through rushing to type something when in a rush; I know I do frequently, usually due to the latter excuse.
Look to Mark 12’s post for how a gentlemanly and helpful response is constructed.
Anyway, back to the Vimy. Isn’t it a shame that the Vimy story got a small paragraph and tiny image whilst a double page was given to the contents of Charlotte Church’s ipod! This is in The Independant too 🙁
Hatton,
When we going to see your lovely pics?
Next Monday or Tuesday Stewart all being well, old fashioned 35mm you see and im waiting till I can do them myself and not the people at Klick 😉
Watch Sky news tonight.
Yes, it will get out and it is coming to the UK afterwards.
Celebrate, they deserve your support and will be happy you are joining them.
Yes I plum forgot to add my congratulations! Ill give the news a look this evening. I’m glad to hear they will be coming over to the UK, I sadly missed them by a week or two when they hangered at Downsview overnight. Which UK shows will they attend? (Im not even going to utter the line……….)
would love to see some pictures, will the vimy be able to egt back out of the course i presume under her own steam?
Has it landed on a golf course because of the course’s close proximity to the original landing site I presume?
Brooklands Museum’s P.1127 was also on one of the a/c carriers for the celebrations. Pic of it leaving the museum last week:
yes, heard they restored it just for the event. 🙂
Texan Tomcat, Rob, Stewart, thanks for the kind comments.
Never owned a ka (thankfully) so no I don’t…
Is it one of the straps you use to attach it to your foot when out for a skate???
:):) 😀 😀
No Aircraft, im sure we can live with that! Interesting pictures Damien. The little I saw on BBC News 24 of the Red, Blue silliness did blown out of proportion. What I did find worrying is that, taking into account that my knowledge of the battle is quite basic, I learnt hardly thing from their coverage.
One of the commentators (maybe Sky News for this one) did kindly point out which ships were at anchor and which were moving though!
