If you want bulk head or exit seats you have to pay extra. It’s fairly standard in the charter business these days. IFE consists of TV screens down the cabin and a load of music channels. There is a charge for headsets though so if you have some at home bring them too.

It is probably to do with the clocks going forward. Many airlines change their scedule at the same time from winter to summer.

Steve – A lot of Indian airports are like this particularly as many of them are shared military airports. Goa is especially bad as it even has a road crossing the midpoint of the runway!

In a previous life I used to operate in and out of LHR utilising a BMI slot. It is something that is done but didn’t realise they would go to the extent of wet leasing an aircraft. Why not just sell the slot as they did to us in the past?

I would also like to think that the CAA looked at the availabilty of crews and aircraft in this country and closer to home and decided there was capacity at home or closer to it that could provide that.

It is an uncompressed .avi file so you need to ensure your software can play these. At worst you may need a divx plugin.

I can’t see the photo. When I click the link I just get the homepage.

Last weekend I was in BGI and just happened to have a Chanchangi Airlines 737 (http://www.chanchangi-airlines.com/) do a powerback next to us. I only had my phone with me so hence the poor quality but I hope you enjoy it as much as I did seeing it for real, depsite getting peppered with every bit of debris on the apron.

I have been doing a bit of digging around on the CCQ question and have only been able to confirm that the A318, A319, A320 and A321 come under the type heading of A320 and the A330 family comes under a seperate heading of A330. The CAA have been allowing crews to fly them concurrently but not to the extent that the 757/767 crews are. The 757/767 is a common type rating (source, LASORS, http://www.caa.co.uk). On the 75/76 we can fly the 2 back to back on the same day. AFAIK this is not permitted on the A320/A330. My search continues. I will let you know when I find out definitively.

AAE and XLA are merging. TCD was bought by the Avion Group last year and the flights have been operated by AAI and AAE crews for some time now anyhow and never operated on their own callsign. Since November last year the crews became solely AAE. With the merger AAE will cease to exist and so will the 5A/EUK/Snowbird identifiers hence the change from 5A to XL.

I’m pretty sure they are talking about the fact that this winter Excel have been operating the LGW SFB services on the 763. This ends the end of this month when one of the 743’s returns from operating Hajj charters. Should there be extra flights going, I have no doubt we will do them on the 763.

BY767 – It may be worth bearing in mind that I speak to professional pilots almost every day so feel my experience may be a little more valid judging by your profile. I am trying to provide a balanced opinion and to indicate that it isn’t as common as you imply to join the ATC. Please respect that.

Wozza – Another option is the university air squadron should you opt to do a degree course. Not all unis offer the UAS but it may well be an option.

I know one guy who at the moment flies British reg A346, A343 and Bulgarian registered A320.

I think the key here is the difference in registrations. I would even put money on the fact that the CAA don’t allow MFF in the same way as the 757/767.

The only costs involved are in ensuring everything is working. Some things not working will reduce the ETOPs rule time from 180mins to 120mins. I didn’t know Thai had stated that as a problem. ETOPs 180 is awarded as an upgrade to 120 once sufficient engineering coverage has been demonstrated, engine condition monitoring, crew training and that the company is demonstrating the aircraft is remaining within the in flight shut down (IFSD) criteria. As you can see this is the reason ETOPs approval isn’t given straight away.
