Thanks Anon, I look forward to hearing from XE584
Hello,
Just to refresh this post in the hope that more will look at the weekend, we have been promised a shock strut but do need the fork to take the wheel.
Anyone here with some ideas please.
Thanks
Ken
Thanks Matthew,
I will keep my fingers crossed you may be able to help.
Ken
Hi Matthew.
Thanks for the post but I dont think it is Rapide, I am posting a couple of pics I have been sent of what it should look like in case you are offered anything. The wheel might be the correct type though, any chance of letting me know the numbers on it?
Thanks again
Ken
Hello Keith,
Thats a great picture and will be usefull in helping us find an original.
Ken
HI Matthew,
Sadly its the wrong one as you can see from the pics I have, see below.
Thanks for helping
Ken
Thanks Eric I have sent you an e-mail

We have just had a new never seen before picture posted of Salazar ( Black Magic after it was sold) in the DH workshops under repair. Fascinating.
Thanks Mothminor I will pass it on and we shall see.
I will just say this last time that I cant understand why some have had problems on Facebook, I and other volunteers have never had any at all, apart from the odd ‘friends’ request. the only info about me on there is that I come from Derby.
If you can have a look at the latest posts on the site which are brilliant.
Thanks again to all who have been able to look and join, we are up to 200 now.
Ken
The volunteer looking after the Facebook site is looking into how it’s done but says as yet can’t find it..if anyone here knows please let us know.
Just a note to say thank you to all those who have looked at our Comet Facebook page. It seems since my post we have had 39 new members, which I am assuming are mostly from here so a big thank you, we are up to 189 now.
For those who haven’t looked we have just put an update on how the wings for Black Magic are taking shape.
Ken
I am very surprised by the comments about Facebook, have you joined and had problems or just heard rumours?
I was very sceptical when the idea was put forward having read things in the papers , but have to say in the 6 months I have been on it there have been nothing but good things. Ok you get the occasional notification that ‘Fred Bloggs’ wants to be your friend which you ignore. the web site is still on going but we have had far more interest and feedback from the Facebook page than the web site. Through it we recently organised a talk by lady pilot Judy Leden, that was well attended and raised a fair sum for the project . Updates on the project are on all the time, usually the day any new work is done. We get asked lots of questions about things which we answer so all in all a good thing. Its a bit like this forum really and I and others use it as such and have no problems. And finally, through it there have been at least 6 new photographs of the Comets posted in the last few months that I and others have never seen before so we are well pleased. Sorry you don’t agree.
Ken
Hello, I have checked and sadly we were both slightly confused as you do need to register on Facebook to see the posts and to join. It is easy to sign up, otherwise I couldn’t have done it, and you don’t get inundated with stuff you don’t want. Please think about signing up and joining the group, some of the latest posts are of Roscoe Turners Boeing.
I believe that 17 New members have joined today which I assume is from this forum, there are hundreds of members here so fingers crossed we get a lot more.
Thanks in advance for looking and supporting us.
Ken
I thought you could as its a public site, I will ask the volunteer who runs it for you
Many thanks that’s just the job. I have a friend doing the CAD drawing for the instrument panel on the DH88 Comet which we are trying to do as close to original as we can. From the pictures we have the fuel gauges seem to be the same type as fitted to the Spitfire and Anson, although recalibrated for the larger fuel tanks. We don’t have any yet as they do seem to be very expensive so we may have to go for different types but for now its fingers crossed.
thanks again
Ken
