Not sure why it had the trigraph put on it. Its the same glider though, your picture includes the trailer, we are still using it!! Also it has the modified canopy you mentioned.
What are the dates of your flights, we do have the log book for the glider from 1964.

I will dig out the pictures of the resto and as soon as I have some of the new Oly I will post them.

We are still trying to decide if it will be best to get her wings sprayed ( we dont have the facility to do that and want the rear of the wings finished clear)
then do the rest and C of A her ourselves or to bite the bullet and get some one to do the rest for us so she will be in use as soon as possible.

Work that needs doing, so far as we are aware, is wing and tail plane sprayed, Check the brake box is OK on the port wing, looks to be standing a little proud so may need re doing. We have the birch ply.

Re assemble and replace skids. Doughnuts required We need a compass, I was out bid on the one on e-bay.

Instrument panel is in excellent order with wiring for logger and radio should we want to put them in. Should then be ready for C of A.

    Hello Jackie

Have just dug out my old gliding log book and I last flew the Oly in August 83 at Chetwynd, flight was 1hr 43 minutes with maximum height during the flight of 4300ft from a 1000ft aerotow. The tow plane was a Chippie and during the launch you had to have the stick right forward in the Oly to stay in position as the slowest tow speed of the chippie was still faster than the Oly liked. Seem to remember it was no problem though. The longest flight I had in her was 2hrs 37 mins when I did my silver distance from Chetwynd down to Pershore. Great times and lots of fun.

It seems strange no one has been able to help as someone must have a plate in his collection as they always seem to be missing off every engine I have seen. Even the Gipsy Six 1 just come from the USA which was donated to the Comet project has the data plate missing as well, I assume they must be very collectable then.

If anyone knows of any Queen 2’s in museums can they please let me know so I can see if there is a data plate on them I can get a picture off.

    many thanks

You have done a fantastic job, the great pics bring back happy memories of rigging it, makes me think I should perhaps take up gliding again. I would be interested to see some pics during the restoration if thats possible.

You were lucky finding the second one, any pics as well please. Thats the second case I have heard of someone buying a trailer and getting a free glider inside it, wish I was that lucky.

    Well done again

Sorry for asking but why is the APC on the rudder as it wasnt on it when I flew it

Ken, I wonder if is the OLY we bought from Stafford GC 4 years ago. We restored her and she is flying.

Last week for my sins, I went to buy her a better trailor and came back with another complete and nearly restored Oly in it.
This one is 1956 and comes with full history from its delivery flight,

    Hello Jackie,

here is a pic of the Oly at Morridge when I used to fly her, any chance of some pics how she is now and the new one

    Hi Bruce

We cant use steel taper pins as they have to set with a countersunk head at both ends and then machined perfectly smooth to match the profile of the tubes they are going through, both internaly as well as externaly.

    Hi Mark

Thanks for the offer if nothing closer turns up, I already have original copies of the standard Gipsy Six and the Queen 2 so only need the Gipsy Six 2. I am not bothered about originals as its the info in them thats important.
