Funny, we went the whole 1980’s without a war. There were minor things here and there, but nothing to justify the defense expenditures of Ronald Reagan. Besides, unless you’re a terrorist or a terrorist sympathizer, you really have no reason to be concerned right now. Saddam was an abberation, unfinished business if you will.

ahha. So anyone who disagrees with you is a terrorist ?? And if someone is a terrorist I find no reason on why they should side with Saddam ??

So what about France building CVNs, Europe developing the EF-2000, or the A400M project? Surely an aircraft designed to ferry tanks and combat equipment around wasn’t designed for hurricane relief missions? Take your blindingly anti-US sentiment and find someplace else to preach.

    Worth 400 Billion$ ??

    A single A400M, EF-2000 is worth 250 Million $ ??

And yet, that never ceases to deter us from bringing it up all over again

It’s like the biblical ‘tower of babel’. Everyone speaks in English yet no one speaks in the same language. As a result nobody is going to understand each other.

so before Iraq and Afganistan what countries did the US go about invading?

Forgotten already, Iraq and Afghanistan were the bigger ones, and easily register in the memory. The ones before and the small wars in order.

    Gulf War 1
    Somalia
    Kosovo
    Bosnia
    Afghanistan
    Iraq War II

Odd, where is your moralizing in the thread on the Su-22 crash? Funny how you pick and choose your moral observations, depending on what country the ‘weapons of war… used for claiming lives & destroying property’ crash in……..

Ok. So what is Russia’s defence budget ? Is it in any shape to go about invading other countries ??

And when you spend that sort of money, then you need a war. A war every 5 years. And that is exactly what has happened, and that is exactly why I am concerned.

wheres your cut off point? When does spending become too much?

When a country of 250 million spends around 250 million $ on a single aircraft and $400,000 Million on its total defence. And then when you calculate the per-capita expenditure on defence, it just doesn’t pass the smell test. People tend to jump up on their hind legs, No wonder !

Yes they have, and rather effectively too I might add. Thanks for noticing! But did you ever stop to consider that if some idiot hadn’t decided to go on some foolish and asinine moral crusade and use airliners to knock over buildings, your precious terrorists might not be being hunted down by the US military right now?

Ahh ! That sublime emotion called revenge.

I understand Afghanistan but sorry I do not understand what that Iraq thing was all about. But probably cheese-eating surrender monkeys and friends are not supposed to understand all that. Tough logic !

Defend a country, raise an army, maintain an airforce by all means but when a country spends 250 Million$ on a single aircraft and spends 400 Billion $ on it’s defence budget. Then I know as does everyone that the intentions behind such need not be the most noble.

The money is not important. Just be thankful that someone’s father, son, brother and husband did not die this Christmas.

ha! These sort of weapons have been used for claiming the life of someone’s father, son, brother and husband in places like Iraq. How concerned were you then ?? IN future these weapons would be used to take lives as well. I would be on the lookout for similar levels of concern from everyone here then as well.

These are weapons of war and will solely be used for claiming lives & destroying property. In that sense I am not very concerned but I am happy that a platform which should be used for such has been destroyed and delayed. No offence to the poor test-pilot or anybody human though. My grievance is towards the govt.

Idiotic reaction nevertheless. Like seeing a crashed beemer and saying “oh well, I always knew those Krauts can’t build cars”.
It’s a machine and machines get ****** up sometimes. And afaik it was never advertised as Titanic-style uncrashable. Was it?

Now can’t jealous folks relieve themselves of their negative emotions once in a while already ! Do not get all presumptuous about it , will u ??

Induction of the VK-10M is what I mean. Should be somewhere around 2010 according to past reports. It’s latest status is however something I have little knowledge about. THe VK-10M was also shown in prototype form at the MAKS 2001. VK-10M is actually the name of a particular type of a hard alloy, which could mean that VK-10M is the name of the RD-33 version developed from the VK-10M alloy. The particular alloy also helps in reduction of the radar signature and fuel consumption amongst other benefits.

yeah, that is the MiG LFS they are talking about. VK-10M was supposed to power that. Aeronautics.ru had more info on that. And it’s induction date.

So on which aircraft they have put this engine, -SMT, K, M, OVT etc. There are alot of stuff for reading unless ther is some thing real. My news is the first credible thing towards radical upgrade of RD-33 series engine for new aircraft.

The VK-10M (Vladimir Klimov-10M) has been in development for almost a decade. It is a bit larger than the original. Thrust close to 24,000 pounds. Thrust vectoring of this version probably intended for the K.

The human affliction of selecting healthy partners for mating has gotten down to the aviation industry and the fine art of aircraft building.

From the POV of certain self-proclaimed connoseiurs the X-32 looked like it has a some sort of human lip and gum disease.

This gives rise to the more pertinent question whether the human concept of beauty is interfering with innovation in modern military aviation design innovations. I think for sure it is.
