You can’t use DSCA notifications of FMS to calculate weapon system costs as has been discussed here many times. First, they are estimates, and second they include support, training, and logistics costs. Not to mention non-recurring expenses associated with a new operator or new version.
Hold on, I’ll post the justification book costs for the Aim-120D
In FY 2018, the Navy spend 197 million procuring 120 Aim-120D, or 1.64 million apiece.

I used simultaneous equations and several purchase figures to cancel out the support equipment costs. Depending which two I use it gives $2.3 to $3m.

Combining the last link with the UK price, assuming fixed support costs and using simultaneous equations gives $2.28m for AIM-120D. I’d guess it’s between $2m and $3m unit cost.
Wishful thinking i see Spud…
There´s nill, zero, nada, nyet, absolutely nothing on the public domain that you can present to backup that particular assesment of yours.Read what i´ve wrote, the UK and Germany are not going to buy new batches of AIM120´s… Thats future, not past. And the “D´s” are for Dave, not Phoon.
I’d argue that he’s probably right as regards Rmin. Meteor probably does have a larger Rmin than AMRAAM as well as a much larger Rmax. But then ASRAAM has a larger Rmax than AIM-9, so the gap is covered either way. On ECCM and seeker he’s just guessing.
Last time I read something about their respective cost, AMRAAM was about 1M$ and Meteor 2.5/3M$
Depends which version of AIM-120. For the AIM-120D it’s $3.25m including support equipment, but likely still well over $1m unit cost.

Assuming the cost of the support equipment remains the same and using simultaneous equations, combing the above with the link below give a unit cost of $3.04m for the AIM-120D.
Meteor stated at $2.5m.

I would even bet that Typhoon will carry only 2 in most case.
The RAF standard QRA fit will surely be 4 + 4 (Meteor + ASRAAM).
Theoretically it needs to be tested at twice maximum speed for civilian applications. It could be difficult accelerating a chicken to Mach 11. Additionally not many birds fly at 150,000ft.
Well that was my biggest issue, so thanks for agreeing on that.:very_drunk: I don’t doubt that GaN could be available for 2025, or most of the other relatively simple upgrades, but a completely redesigned dozen panel SPECTRA layout seems unfeasible given the timescale. And honestly, it has so many potential issues that time alone might not be the problem.
Maybe testing two alternatives side by side. What better way to determine the one with the best performance?
By pack of 4?! Wouldn’t make senses
They could base it on the XG-40 though as I said, which is RR IP and essentially the same engine. But as you say, they’re going with a new design requirement. There was an EJ2x0 proposal stated with 27,000lbf though, part of the ACME II program. This is likely to require so many changes and retest that it couldn’t be deemed an EJ200 anymore though in terms of shared IP.

I have never seen more than 6 either but always with at least 2 drop tanks.
Could be testing a new IRST system?
Under my Umbrella.:D
It’s difficult to suggest anything other than lasers. DIRCM maybe?
Okay, maybe I’m confused, I think there is also a launcher that’s destined to be compatible with the F-35’s internal bay.
You’re not going to start singing Rihanna are you?
