With Vietnam returning to China’s sphere of influence like they traditionally have.. I can see them purchasing smaller aircraft like K-8s and helicopters..maybe not fixed wing combat aircraft yet..

WTF! Viet Nam consider China traditional enemy and the Vietnamese hate the Chin (I do, too, and I have done a lot in that psocess). Viet Nam nowaday is looking to link up with the US and Japan, (just like those countries are looking for partners in Asia against the Chin). Many US’ companies and government official have visited Viet Nam. And while China doesn’t support Japan becoming a permanent member of the UN, Viet Nam does (foolow the news). If you read xinhuanet (what a moronic name), you can see that the Chinese newspaper, since they realized that Viet Nam doesn’t like them, no longer post any stories regarding Viet Nam.

Viet Nam just signed a one billion dollar contract worth of equipments with Russia. That is where most of Vietnamese equipments are going to come from. India is providing Viet Nam with spares for the Petysa’s and OSA’s. I wonder what those boats are going to be used for since they station and operate close to the Spratly and Paracel islands.

The US and Japan is looking to sign the WTO with Viet Nam soon; president Bush is going to visit soon; more companies are coming; and the US will eventually have Cam Ranh base back, (renting that is).
