Nice shots. Who won the race?
Those were taken at LGW greekdude, and it’s changed a great deal since then.
Oops. 😮 I guess it wasn’t enough that the title stated they were from LGW.
be prepared for a deluge of 1960s (and later) nostalgia on this website!
Good! I like that black and white effect.
Sorry, I meant to answer your original question but I got side-tracked and then forgot all about it.
There is a daily direct PIA service between Manchester and Pakistan.
In addition to this, PIA’s transatlantic services to Toronto, New York, Houston, Chicago also drop in at MAN in both directions.
That’s why we get so many PIA wide-bodies in MAN. It’s quite commonplace to have 3 or 4 on the deck at once. 🙂
Thanks for that Lance. Two more questions now. Will the 772LR, in theory, be sent to one or more of those North American destinations non-stop, thus cutting out MAN as a tech stop? And does PIA have 5th freedom rights on any of the aforementioned routes?
Nice photos. I know I’ve brought this up on a previous thread, but, how many flights total does PIA operate out of MAN on a daily basis? Looks like they use 4 different A/C, as well.
Howdy,
As an American I am EMBARASSED how you were treated by US INS! I am just not sure why anyone would come here!
Yeah, well you shouldn’t be. It seems like the U.S. rolled out the red carpet, for all intents and purposes, compared to what I (an American citizen) had to go through in Canadian customs at YVR for an excursion of simiar length. I was detained for over 2 hours, had my bags screened repeatedly and questioned repeatedly, because the idiot was convinced I was a drug dealer.
As far as you making your connecting flight, you should be ecstatic. When my brother an I connected this past summer through PHL (arrived on LH, departed on UA), we cleared customs in a timely fashion, but took over 2 hours to; first, figure out which queue to stand in, then finally get through security. We barely made our flight with a 2.5 hour layover! I’ll never connect through PHL again. The interline baggage area was a nightmare, and they lost one of our 4 pieces of luggage, that was never found!
I love how so many of the Euro airlines back then operated 4 holers into LHR. Are those ‘Hunting’ hangers still there?
Has Mr Pittuck bought a scanner recently??? 😉
Seriously Robert, you have posted some great shots in the past week. PLEASE keep ’em coming!
HERE HERE!! A pair of PA widebody trijets in the same session, I have to pinch myself!
P.S When I can persuade Mrs King to buy me a slide scanner, I’ve got some right gems for this site!!
HERE HERE once again! I love vintage shots! Especially PA and TW.
TG operate the A346 into Melbourne daily, isn’t that a continuation of the Sydney flight??????
TG994 is the return flight of TG993 BKK-SYD-MEL, and returns directly MEL-BKK (with the exception of April 6 and 8 where it stops in HKT before continuing on to BKK). It is daily and operated by a mix of 744’s and 747’s until April 9th and from then on it’s operated by a 747 (I presume this to be the aforementioned 743). TG981/982, on the other hand, is non-stop BKK-MEL-BKK and is operated by the A346 4 times weekly. From the 29th of October, this flight will be operated by a 777.
MAN doesn’t look like it’s changed much. Nice photos. Love that Air Florida DC10.
I was wondering if TG still operated their 743’s with the newer GE engines and that photo of it just relieved my curiosity. 😀 They used to send them every other day to SYD but I’m not sure that they do anymore, instead using the 744 daily. Hopefully I can get on one before they retire them.
I think those 747 modifications are more pleasing to the eye than the A380 currently is.
You know, there are just some services where one has to wonder, “why isn’t there one?” This is surely one of them. Australia, to the best of my knowledge, has a sizeable Indian population. Surely Air India would offer at least a 3-4 times weekly SYD/MEL run.
greekdude1 – 21st century prophet…… :D:D:D
Thanks Lance. 😀
Did I already mention, that I hate winter ? Did I also say that there is nothing worse then snow showers that do melt once thy hit the ground.
Nice photos. Yeah, I noticed some rather inclement weather during the US-Poland friendly soccer match in Kaiserslautern last Wednesday. 😀
