The cargo MD-11’s will be around for longer than that. Eva and LH Cargo have a few examples that are less than 5 years old.
It bascially looks identical to their last scheme, Mongu. They just replaced the crane with the red dot, changed to the new titling, and removed the ‘super logistics’ titles, much to my dismay. NW cargo had a large black/red rectangle on the side of the fuselage.
I’m not sure, Mongu, because I wouldn’t even consider Russia to be semi-Euro, even though the vast majority of it technically is in Asia. I consider it to be 100% Euro, for all practical purposes.
Mecedonia, the sovereign country, has only been so for less than a decade. Once the former Yugoslavia broke up, what was left was Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, and Macedonia. The latter, I suppose, couldn’t find a new creative name to give themselves, so they just adopted the name of the region as the name of their country.
I like it. I’d like it better if they retained the “Super Logistics” titling.
Isn’t Turkey ‘technically’ a European Country, even though it would fall into a “Middle-Eastern” geographic region, which is part of Asia? Israel, for sure, in not a Euro country. Therefore Turkey begin considered as such, makes sense, whereas Israel, does not.
With all due respect Michael and Luke, USA isn’t getting Concordes simply because it’s “USA.” I, by no means, think that we are OBLIGATED to receive a Concorde. With all these Concordes retiring and being put into museums, don’t you think it would be just a tad bit appropriate to have just one example in the Air & Space Smithsonian? Correct me if I’m wrong, but last time I checked, that’s a rather prestigious museum when it comes to aeronautics and aviation. The Bell X-1, Spirit of St. Louis, Wright Flyer, etc. are all there. As far as the Concorde being European, yes, it is in fact Euro. However, all these one-offs aside, like Barbados, Singapore, etc; where was ‘regular’ Concorde service flown to, during its lifetime? I believe the answer to that would be JFK. So then why don’t we put one there instead of Washington? Not because Washington ‘used to’ have Concorde service, BECAUSE WASHINGTON IS WHERE THE MUSEUM IS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! What are they going to do, demand it be put right in the middle of JFK, next to the tower or something, just because that’s the airport that saw the most Concorde movements in its history? Gosh, I certainly hope not! Let me just reiterate a point I made when one of you first indicated one example was going to be ‘donated’ to the U.S. EVEN IF one wasn’t donated to the A&S Smithsonian and they were all scattered all over Europe, I’m sure not a single Aviation enthusiast in the U.S. would lose sleep over it.
Michael, how did you rate UA’s food when you flew them? I, frankly, think their food is good. Not good as in, “good considering it’s airline food,” I mean good as in “good, period.” That’s just my opinion.
I noticed that also, tenthije. But then I thought, there wasn’t enough number/letters left over to complete “AEROMEXICO.”
Thanks Adrian. I just changed it last night in lieu of this news. I guess you could say, I’m paying homage to them, as they are one of UA’s non-alliance partners. Their old scheme isn’t bad, but their new one is much better very colourful, and unique, not un-like Air Jamaica. I like that green, especially!
When I start my own airline, it’s going to be called “Later Airlines.”
BA have over 50 744’s, but think about how many Intl long haul destinations they serve. In North and South America alone, is it safe to say they serve 30-40 gateways? I’m not even counting Asia and the S. Pacific. How many long haul destinations does Emirates serve? None in N. and S. America, that’s for sure. Yes, some of these aircraft will open up new markets, but they’re going to have to start serving quite a few new destinations in order to justify such a huge order, not even counting the 40 A380’s. I really hope they do. Emirates is a fantastic airline, and it would be great to be able to fly them not only to travel to the Middle East, but perhaps they could be a choice for flying from the U.S. to Europe, as well. I’d be all over that.
Air Canada should have just let the Ovitz group take over CP four years ago, or whenever it was. I just got an email from AC basically saying that their entire domestic fare structure was taking on a “low cost” approach, a la Southwest and Jetblue. At least that’s the impression I got from it.
I wouldn’t consider El Al European. However, doesn’t UEFA recognize them, considering they are in one of the qualifying groups for Euro 2004, correct?
Was my guess on the 2nd one not correct, Steve? The first one can’t be Mexicana. Their uniforms don’t look like that (unless the changed their colours).
