Sounds like a bargain on what I assume to be a fairly long flight. Unless of course you plan on sleeping the entire time.

Thanks for that Sandy. I got to fly on a few TWA 741’s as a younster. That’s what got me into airliners.

Newbies aren’t a pain, per se, unless they start a thread for the sole purpose of seeking pity. That’s a new one.

Airlines that I never flew on, I really miss Pan Am, and to a lesser extent, Ansett. Ansett mainly because I had more options, from a Star Alliance standpoint, in flying within Australia, as opposed to using DJ.

The airline that I flew on a number of times as a kid that I REALLY miss is TWA. Probably still my favorite airline.

Lastly, I flew LAX-JFK-ATH-JFK-LAX in 1976 on TWA. One of these 4 segments could have been operated by a 707. The flights were taken in June on the outbound and August on the inbound. I was 2 years old, so unfortunately I have very little recollection of said trip. If anyone could direct me to some archive/database, I still have my passport from then and I could look up the dates.

Aegean Arilines it sounds like but I don’t think they got A320s [yet]

Aegean don’t have A320’s, nor do they fly to LGW. Unless either of these have come into play in the last six months.

I just got back from Phoenix. Looks like there’s been some interesting happenings in the last 5 days. I just voted and it looks like a sub-forum looks pretty popular. That just might be the way to go.

Would any of you see VS merge with any other airline, be it a major carrier or a low-cost carrier?
And, while Ryannair and Easyjet are the largest and dominant low-cost carriers in Europe, which smaller airline would you see them swallowing to increase their network coverage and to gain access to more gates throughout Europe?

VS is 49% owned by SQ, so I’m sure they would have some say so. I’m still hoping that VS eventually ends up in Star, regardless of what the route is.

Finnair has already ordered airbus 330s and 340s to replace the ’11s. World I believe does not do pax flights, perhaps the occaisional USAF charter but that’s it. KLM still has a large number of them and expects to continue using them for another 10 years or so.

I forgot about KLM, how could I? 😮 I was referring to World in the military charter aspect.

Limited in pax capacity. Heck, even the MD-11, which is considerably younger than it’s predecesor, is nearly finished as a pax carrier. There are few exceptions, of course. Finnair, World, and a few Asian carriers still have a few MD-11’s flying around.

I like TP’s new colour scheme. Also, nice to see US starting service to MXP as UA pulled out of there about 2 years ago. Gives me some options as I plan on visiting there the next few years. Nice thread, by the way. 😉

That’s too bad. I also pass through there any time I’m in AMS, which in my case has been each of the last 4 summers. Hopefully they’ll have a bit of stock if I happen to go by there this summer.
